it's a catch phrase people love to throw out without pointing to anything specificplease explain in detail how he was out coached.
What scheme did he use. What scheme did he not use and why was that a mistake? What scheme differences would have changed the outcome had he used them instead?
And we’re going to need a lot more specifics than “he should blitz more”. Really? In what situations? And who should have blitzed? Who should cover for that blitz on the back side? And how does that change the 3 rd level alignment?
I was once sitting in an office at the school where my children once played high school football. They had just hired a guy who is widely regarded as the best high school coach to ever coach in Tennessee. He has over 15 state championships. One of the other parents trying to sound cool said the words “out coached” and he laughed. He said that is a term used by morons who know nothing of football and kids making excuses for their failure to execute.
It’s beyond moronic for people who watch a game to say the guy who spent 50 hours a week on it got out coached when they can’t even tell you the name of the base defense.
Noticed this as well. Don’t know why we don’t. Seems like it would be an easy way to give Nico an idea of man vs zone. Plus I believe there’s all sorts of stats backing up sending a guy in motion gets more yards per play than not doing it.One thing I’ve noticed is we never send players in motion on offense anymore. First two years there was a ton. Not sure why.
I think he’s had to really simplify things for the learning curve and the seriously bad o line play.I think my biggest issue with Heupel is he has to figure out how to win on the road. I don’t care how many points we score or how pretty we look doing it just win. We haven’t performed well on the road. Win vs Arkansas and I think we make the SEC CC and get a home playoff game even if we lose.
Get out of your feelings Nancy. Then say what you mean free from buzz words
Butch.
Brick by brick
That’s not out coached. That’s out athleted.Get out of your feelings Nancy.
I’m not home to break down the play by play, but Banks had no answer for the running back out if the backfield and Kelly knew exactly what play to call depending on the defense formation. There was more than one occasion he dropped an end in coverage which was a total mismatch. On offense we couldn’t block yet we had WR lined up close yet refused to chip to help out. Ever. No motion to confuse the defense. That’s scheme, coaching, whatever you want.
Once again, looked unprepared and listless coming out of a bye.
Coaching, o message board swami.
Another positive example when OU was completely unprepared for the 2 TE set. They couldn’t stop it or come up with an answer for the most part.
I give credit and blame where it’s due. Heuo did wonders getting this team to a playoff. But he needs to recruit and evaluate better.
Go look at the power hour on YouTube to see some examples.
Now stop being the arbiter of what can be discussed in here and have a Merry Christmas. I’ll add some YouTube clips later if I have time.
