The Official #7 Tennessee vs. #13 Maryland Game Thread, 4:30 PM ET, FS1

A tight win with JJJ on the bench in a hostile environment is still a win...maybe a more important win in terms of working harder in the gym. Go Vols...just keep winning!
I made it to the game today and Barclays was absolutely a hostile environment. Looked like 80% of the fans were Terps and very vocal. Not an easy venue for the Vols.

I didn't like that we seemed to disappear around the 10:00 mark in the second half.

But I will say that in the past I think we lose this game. So to hang on and still get the W is great.
began recording the game at that point
thought then we were own our way a collapse as ive witnessed too many losses to Maryland, the most painful beating courtside in Greensboro when Lefty, Albert King and Ernest Graham delivered an ass-kickin

Who is the GOAT w/respect to escapes? Steve McQueen? Fran Tarkenton? Notre Dame? Do I need to read the whole thing or just buy the Cliff notes?
He wasn't a QB but I've never seen a guy more elusive than Barry Sanders. As for guys who wore orange, there once was a guy who carried the number 7 and whose nick was the artful dodger.

We have only played Maryland 5 times now, all-time and the game you speak of was one of just 2 losses to Md, all-time (my Sophomore year back in 1981 in NCAA tournament). The other loss was to a Len Bias-led team in the Great Alaska shootout in the 1980's.

Ah, yes. I know of whom you speak. I was a pizza delivery guy while at UT. I took a pizza to an off campus apt and Mr. Holloway answered the door in relaxed attire. It startled me for him to suddenly appear, and then he quickly slipped away without giving me a tip. He was indeed the artful dodger!!

Great story!

Beat them without JJJ and Aidoo
they shot horribly with many very bad shot selections against a good defense. However, you simply cannot win basketball games against good competition (SEC ) and shoot 11-21 from free throw.
How these kids are recruited and play and cannot smell a 60% free throw % is beyond me.

We were shooting 74% from FT before today.

Compare TA and ON stats for this game vs their minutes, TA isn’t lacking offensively comparatively.
Agreed in this game. I think if he had more minutes, we’d see a gap start to form between the two.

Just going by TA’s body of work thus far, which admittedly is limited especially on the offensive end. I think he has the tools and the skill set to up that portion of his game.

I agree with all of that except, isn't Maryland considered good competition?

My cellphone died which is why I wasn’t commenting for the remainder of a thrilling game that the great Volunteers won because they outplayed the resilient Terrapins.
