The Official #7 Tennessee vs. #13 Maryland Game Thread, 4:30 PM ET, FS1

We start playing games like this, we'll get rolled in SEC play by lesser opponents who can play and keep their 'ish together under pressure... we SUCK under pressure in these situations --- as we saw with all the messy turnovers, missed layups, shots, and FT's... you have to make your FT's...

I'm sure Barnes will come out and start subtly pointing fingers and once again not take any ownership in that potential flop...I actually think the guy is regressing on coaching/game management... calling a timeout in the middle of a fast break... Dip-i'sh move.

You never change. We are 8-1. Never happy with anything.

Well we do have the #1 three point defense in the country so that’s a part of why they were missing them. We did miss Aidoo in the middle in the second half. He intimidates a lot of shots inside the paint. That’s where Maryland made hay.
Yeah they were punishing us with slashes into the paint. The good guys hung on and came away with the win after all. My BVS is subsiding.

Troll

I’ve never seen a team miss as many 2 point shots as us
Particularly under the basket on the put backs and little chippies, it looks like they were anticipating the foul more than focusing on making the shot. Right in front of the hoop and the ball would hit the back or front of the iron. Awaka wasn't bothered. He just stuck it through the hoop.

Even though we got a win, nothing about this makes me feel that good after this epic meltdown

I promise you will feel better if TN is on the bubble or if comes down to seeding as this win along with Kansas could help those who mention the bad loss Vs Colorado. I agree they played poorly and this team lacks offense, but it’s a win and gives us hope.

When's the last time you got some? Have ever got any?

TN beat a top 15 team in basically a road game. I wasn’t happy w this team’s performance and have concerns about their offense and/or scheme. But TN 🏀 is consistently in top 15-20 for past three-five years.

It’s early in the season and these kids are building chemistry with one another. Phillips is a freshman which carries a lot of pressure outside of basketball.
I don’t know what the season holds and I know I will be critical and frustrated with this team, however, I will also enjoy the wins that come and hopefully March Madness berth.

and half of our free throws. Sheesh.
I can’t remember the last time when we were actually good as a team in FT%. I mean outside of a few guys who are typically just really consistent over the years, I don’t know when we’ve been good as a whole. 2008 maybe?
