The Official #8 Tennessee vs. #5 Florida Game Thread, 12:00 PM ET, ESPN

I noticed that, after upsetting top 5 Florida without ZZ and Igor, Tennessee didn’t act like they’d won a Final 4 game. Florida and Auburn both acted like that after beating Tennessee AT HOME. Hell, Florida was doing it in-game.

Glad we have more self-respect than that. And I’ll give Kentucky credit…they didn’t act like Florida and Auburn, even those they were a bigger underdog and did it in Knoxville. Difference between a high expectation program and two punk programs.

Last game Igor played was his best game as a Vol. Dubar was like 2-10 today. I don’t think this game means Igor needs to hit the pine any more than it means Boswell should be getting Ziegler’s minutes. Let’s not overreact to a surprising win.
No, but it's certainly not an overreaction to expect ZZ to get more rest each game. It does likely get us back on the 2 line

Even with Gainey playing well, he shot 5-13 today. Lanier had one of his best SEC games. If this game did anything, it showed that maybe we will function a little better in a more structured offense rather than letting Ziegler run everything on the fly. I do not think this game showed Lanier needs fewer looks in favor of Gainey.
I never said he should get fewer looks; hopefully, he would get more, but that's not going to happen if the only way he can get a shot is off a screen. It doesn't matter who it is; the ball needs to go through someone who can drive, draw the defense, and then score or pass to Lanier. This team does not need to shoot 50% to win, but they can't shoot 18% either.

The Gator fans admire TBA and the Vol hustle.

I went to the game today. Florida’s coach, Golden is the biggest ass I’ve ever seen on the sidelines. He fancies himself as Dan Hurley, only he hasn’t won anything and he was the visiting coach.

Golden spent most of the timeouts harassing the refs and very little time talking to the team. The entire second half, the coaches huddled up on the court and left the Florida players sitting by themselves in silence. When he was in the huddle, he screamed in his guys’ faces. He may be a good coach, but I wouldn’t want to play for him.

Anybody else at the game notice the guy on Florida’s bench that is 7 ft 9? Holy cow! In the layup line he dunked on his tiptoes. All their 6-10 and 6-11 guys looked like little kids next to him. He must be redshirting because he didn’t play a minute even in the game they won by 30. I’m afraid he’ll become the next Lurch (Zack Edey) for us to have to deal with.

Came from the Pearl tree. Acts just like him.

There is no mention of the Vols win on the espn website home page or NCAAM page. You have to drill down to the scores page to even know they played. Why would a top 10 matchup be buried like that?

Call me crazy, but Mashack as a PG works pretty well. He can distribute without being expected to score and his size allows him to defend any guard even those with more quickness.

He had a huge game today, Chaz shot lights out & Cade/Felix gave nothing up to the bigs without a fight.

Believe it or not, outside of the two fan bases, not many people care about a mid-season SEC regular season game. Especially a week before the Super Bowl.

I guess the game wasn't on ESPN .......... wait.

I see it all the time on CBSSports.com, but then they're a Big 10 fanboy site anyway. While UT was #1 I couldn't find a thing about them, but after the first Florida game it was a screaming headline. After a while you get used to it.

Kentucky's win at Tennessee on Tuesday was the headline story on ESPN.com that night and the next morning.

The mainstream wanted today to be about Duke vs UNC and Calipari returning to KY, perhaps. We’re not favorites to win the NCAA, nor are we showcasing any future NBA all stars. TN is just a good team that’s rewarding their fans.

There’s really no story from this outcome to be sold to non-fans. Had this been a repeat of the first matchup, Rick Barnes would be past his prime and the Vols are just OK this year. Since we split with Florida, TN and UF are both pretty good but neither are front runners to win the tournament. That’s not exactly buzz worthy.

Sure. It was a Tuesday night.
LOL.

It was still a "mid-season SEC regular season game."

Your previous post did not indicate that what day of the week it was, would be such a significant variable.

So, I guess that people do care about mid-season SEC regular season games, as long as they are played on a Tuesday night?

I wish Dubar would work on adding some touch on his shots instead of launching piss missiles all the time.
