AP was jacked to beat big brother yesterday and we thought we were better than we were after Virginia. Cue the USCe win over us last year. It happens. Texas beat Bama at Bama. Florida State destroyed LSU. We need to play with a chip on our shoulder and tremendous focus next week. We can beat Florida.

All I’m saying is if Josh Heupel hasn’t shown you a significant turnaround in the past 2 years, you’re blind. There’s no reason to think he won’t remain competitive within SEC play until he isn’t competitive. I think most of us were coming into this year riding high because of how good we were last year. Unfortunately, this is that “gap” year where There will be a little bit of a lull. Next year should be when the Josh Heupel era really starts to show out. Finally getting a fantastic class in behind guys that have now been in your systems for a couple years who are also guys that you have recruited. This team looked horrible today. No doubt. But we can’t be losing our heads even if we have an underwhelming year this year. We are starting to see the effects of good recruiting classes. Look at our defense. Looks majorly improved since last year so far. Our run game, young receivers (squirrel) look good. We are still dealing with the last remains of some of the Pruitt era/ transfers into the programs. We didn’t play good this game. But there is no reason to think the sky is falling.
I agree with all of that. Especially the part about this being a gap year. That is all I was trying to say as well. I don’t believe we are worthy of the hype just yet with this team as our body of work is what it is. Defense is much better, RB is strong, we had a rough day at WR. The ball bounces that way sometimes. In times past we have lost games like this. I have not lost faith in Heupel at all. Sky isn’t falling, that is the joke to all of this. If you state anything critical it does not mean you believe the sky is falling and Heupel is terrible or other nonsense. We can be honest about what we are seeing and where the team is at the moment. I believe better ball lies ahead for UT.

He’s not wrong. If you think a full blown SEC playbook consists of only 5-6 formations, you need to go study. I’ve said it here a few times last night and I’ll say it again today. Tennessee will look completely different next Saturday in the swamp and a ton of you overreacting fools are going to have a changed tune.

I agree we will look completely different, just not at qb

Fulmer did it, Botch did it, Saban does it. If they implement a few new wrinkles into their offense during off-season, they do not use them till league play so opponents cannot scout them.
Every coach does it. People claiming that we showed our whole playbook (or should have) simply have limited knowledge of the game.

People also act like the score should be
300-0 when these opponents are played. Take a look around at some of these smaller school games scores yesterday. A lot were very similar.

I’m with you, I think we just came out flat and weren’t really trying to be exciting, just win and not expend a lot of energy or fireworks 😂

AP just played their best game of the season. They made a couple of big plays, we missed a couple of throws, we missed a couple of tackles, and we had a couple of dropped balls. It could have easily been the blowout everyone expected. If we played them 10 more times, at least 9 of them would be blowouts. We just happened to have the one in ten game instead of the nine in ten game.

I’m just afraid we showed our whole ability at the qb position
I thought we showed it against Clemson.

It's obvious a lot of fans are on the anti-Milton train. I'm not one of them. I will support him and not only hope for but expect the best.

There were a lot of fans on the anti-jg train also. Look how good he turned out to be

You use those types of games as a week to heal, install more of the playbook for future use, and position yourself as best as possible for the (gator) meat of your schedule.
Your only objective for the game is to win and not have injuries.

Yep, and Heupel seemed the most aggravated with the officiating to me lol

We can’t even run what we ran the last two years that the entire world has game film on.

This I can agree with. It was an underwhelming performance and we need to get better but I laugh at fans who go "ape" and to the extreme. I don't think that was me but there were some troubling signs tonight.
We are only guaranteed 12 games. Even one poor one means we just lost almost 10% of our expected fan experience. Don’t disregard it if some fans experience grief and deal with it somewhat irrationally. It just means more ™️
