The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Crawford has never wanted to bat leadoff, as long as Theo doesnt trade Ells for a bullpen arm then Ells will be the leadoff hitter.

You could see Pedrioa drop in the lineup, possibly this:

CF Ellsbury
LF Crawford
3B Youkilis
1B Gonzalez
DH Ortiz
RF Drew
2B Pedrioa
SS Scutaro
C Salty

Bench players: Varitek, Lowrie, Cameron.

Disagree with the lineup.

I'm thinking:

Crawford (L)
Dustin (R)
A-Gonz (L)
Youk (R)
Ortiz (L)
Drew (L)
Scutaro (R)
Salty (S)
Ells (L)

I think Ells would drop lower before Pedroia would

I could see that also, either way Tito is going to have alot of options with this lineup this year. Your still going to have Cameron on the bench that can DH & play the OF, not to mention Kalish in AAA.

I just really hope Salty can become a good catcher for us.

I just don't know if that will happen :ermm:

My Nationals will give you a catching prospect for... Bard!!?? :)

The guys coming off the bench will be big, especially if Papi struggles

I'm really excited about Bard, next season he will take over the closer role for us.

We really need some bullpen help in a bad way, Theo has offered contracts to alot of relievers. He wants Downs or Fuentes.

Fuentes? Ew.

Bard and his little brother were just ridiculous in high school, I remember seeing them play in Charlotte.

What will the pen look like outside of Bard and the ghosts of Hideki/Paps?

We have Felix Doubront, thats it right now. They are having Doubront work as a starter to begin spring training then they are making him work out of the pen toward the end. IMO he did a very servicable job last year in the pen.

Francona is going to have to put aside his affection to Ortiz this year, we can't have him as our number 3 or 4 hitter this year. At least in my opinion.

Jacoby is the lead-off hitter and Dustin is taylor-made for the 2 hole. Youk would make sense at the 3 and Gonzo taking the clean-up spot. I like Crawford at the 5 with Ortiz at the 6. I guess you put Drew at 7 and Salt at 8. Scutaro is the 9 hitter.

There is a ton of options for Francona, he will be able to mix and match his line-up. Should be fun to watch, IF THEY STAY HEALTHY!

Last year was a nightmare. Hope it doesn't happen again.

!

Despite the miserable start, Ortiz finished with an OPS+ of 137. Still a 3-5 hole guy.

If he starts the way he has the last 2 years, he has to be the 6 or 7 hitter.

When he is hot he is 3-5, I suppose. At this point he isn't better than Youk or Gonzo, not even close to me. T o me they are the 3-4 hitters.

Gotta have Pedrios up there along with Ellsbury, you don't pay a guy 142 million to hit 6th or 7th either.

So glad that Drew sill be gone after this year, I hope anyway. I owuldn't be opposed to signing him to a small contract but what he is getting paid is absurd for his production.

Drew is def gone after this year, I think the organization wants Kalish to step into RF next year & replace Drew.

The Phillies rotation scares the heck out of me, thats just sick!!

Theo better get to finding some solid relievers for the bullpen.

Rusell Martin has signed with the Yankees, also the Sox were in discussions with the Phillies about trading for Joe Blanton but the discussions broke off.

The Red Sox are having ongoing discussions with Dan Wheeler about a possible deal, according to Alex Speier of WEEI.com. One of Speier's sources is optimistic about the negotiations.

So, for now, here is what the Red Sox bullpen might look like:

RHP Jonathan Papelbon
RHP Daniel Bard
RHP Bobby Jenks
LHP Felix Doubront
LHP Andrew Miller
RHP Scott Atchison
RHP Tim Wakefield

You'd also have guys like Matt Albers, Rich Hill, Mike Bowden and Robert Coello in the mix.

That BP is pathetic, it will cost us alot alot alot of games this season.

Red Sox sign Dan Wheeler to a 1yr deal worth 3million, with a option for 2012.

The BP is looking better & better. Would like to pickup Fuentes to have that lefty arm but we have Dourbont & could still bring back Oki to use only on lefties.
