The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Since Lackey joined the Sox, he's 16-16 and had allowed more baserunners than anyone in baseball.

You were shouting that they were easily, without doubt one of the worst teams in baseball. I didn't bother to reply to the above quoted post then, and won't now, as it is a long year. But yeah, we shall see.

Nobody can look at that team and think they would play they way they have. Same thing with the Indians.

Eventually they will slip.

Red Sox start a series at the Yanks tonight, they are 4 games behind the Yanks for 2nd & 5 games back of the Rays for 1st.

Here are the pitching matchups:

Friday: RHP Clay Buchholz (3-3, 4.19) vs. RHP Bartolo Colon (2-1, 3.86)

Saturday: RHP Josh Beckett (2-1, 1.99) vs. LHP CC Sabathia (3-2, 2.89)

Sunday: LHP Jon Lester (4-1, 2.96) vs. RHP Freddy Garcia (2-2, 2.61)

I think the Sox will take 2 out of 3.

Red Sox take the 1st game of the 3 game set against the Yankees 5-4 tonight.

Buchholz went 7IP giving up only 2 runs, he looked strong. He made 1 bad mistake which Martin hit a 2 run HR on.

Adrian Gonzalez is continuing his hot streak, he hit another HR tonight. Youk also hit a 2 run shot.

Bard & Papelbon made it interesting in the 8th & 9th both giving up a run a piece.

Adrian Gonzalez best 1B in the American League, maybe even in all of the Majors. He is CRUSHING the ball the past few weeks. Gonzalez will be in the running for AL MVP.

Beckett w/ another good outing tonight going 6.

Yes, people can. Despite losing far, far, far more than anyone in the offseason. It is quite impressive.

What are you talking about?

Their starting pitching is as good as anyone's in the league and their lineup is better than San Francisco's was last year and they didn't exactly ride the suck truck...

GahLee knows more about baseball than anyone alive. FYI.

Sorry for making a statement that a majority if baseball fans would have agreed with me on. Anyone claiming they seen the Rays playing this well is full of it.

I'll claim that, easily. Winning the division is still a stretch to me, but I love it so far.

With all of the losses, no one expected this, but it was never out of the realm of possibilities. No one certainly expected Joyce and Fuld to do what they have done. Instead of talking about Manny, we are talking about Johnny. Zobrist has done it before, and everyone was waiting on Upton to break through after '07. Longo, is just, well, Longo. Pitching staff is good.

I'll take the Phillies staff and you can have the Rays.

Comparing the NL West to the AL East is your argument?

Sox are going to try & be .500 for the first time since the beginning of the season. After starting 2-10, the Sox are 17-10 in their last 27 games.

Gonzalez on fire:

Gonzalez has hit safely in eight consecutive games at 14 of 36 with seven homers and 13 RBIs. ... He is 12 of 28 in the last six games with six homers and 12 RBIs. ... He has homered in four straight games and driven in a run in six straight. ... He is 32 of 85 with 16 extra-base hits and 25 RBIs in the last 20 games.

Lester against the Yankees, 6-1 3.28 ERA against the Yankees in 12 career starts. He is 4-1 1.99 ERA at Yankee Stadium.

Cause people were lining up around the block in picking the Rays to win the AL East.

Give me a break.

Yes because I said they are going to win the AL East. Please. What I am arguing and have this entire time is your ridiculous comment that they'll be a high 60 to low 70 win team.

Nice work.

Lester is really pissing me off. Not just tonight, but throughout this season. Falling behind in the count too much, throwing too many pitches. Not earning his $31 salary for my fantasy team.

Rays is just about as good as anybody's. Not necessarily the best.

And no... people still aren't lining up saying they WILL WIN the AL East. But you had them pegged as one of the worst clubs in the league.
