The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Rays is just about as good as anybody's. Not necessarily the best.

And no... people still aren't lining up saying they WILL WIN the AL East. But you had them pegged as one of the worst clubs in the league.

They are better than I thought they would be, I still think they finish 3rd in the division and finish with their win total in the 70's.

They said it might have something to do with his 8.01 ERA. I guess he had a strained elbow last year too. TURRIBLE signing.

Sox game against the O's was postponed tonight.

Lackey & Dice-K have been put on the 15 day DL due to "elbow tightness". The Sox have called Michael Bowden up from Pawtucket to put in the bullpen. Wakefield will take Dice-K's spot in the rotation & Aceves will take Lackeys spot.

The new rotation:

Wednesday vs. Detroit: Clay Buchholz

Thursday vs. Detroit: Josh Beckett

Friday vs. Chicago: Jon Lester

Saturday vs. Chicago: Alfredo Aceves

Sunday vs. Chicago: Tim Wakefield

Detroit's only trip to Boston this year, so they might try to force this one in tonight in the rain. Tomorrow looks no better.

Conditions were terrible at Fenway tonight, had a 20 minute raind delay. Weather isnt suppose to get any better the next few days. Buchholz pitched solid tonight except for that 7th inning when he loaded the bases. We have a solid 1-2-3 w/ Beckett, Lester, & Buchholz right now. The lineup is starting to hit alot better, Crawford & Youk are getting that average up.

Verlander vs Beckett tomorrow night on MLB Network, should be a great duel.

On pace for about 45 RBI from the RF position....

Reddick and Kalish both hit lefty, so it's unlikely we'll see either come up as yet another lefty bat.

Not a bad first 1/4 of the season when you consider we're getting 0 offense from the corner OF postions

Way to go Bard.

Why Josh was taken out of the game on 83 pitches is beyond me.

Sox win on a walk-off single by Crawford!! They are 21-10 in their last 31 games after starting the season 2-10. Ortiz CRUSHED a HR tonight

Cubs coming to Fenway this weekend, Lester on the mound tomorrow night.

6 in a row.

Nice to see Crawford with a game winner, slowly but surely he is turning it around.

Sox have traded a player to be named later to the Rockies for Left-Handed Reliever Franklin Morales, he has a 3.86ERA in 14 appearances this season. He has 8BB's with 11 SO's, Leftys are batting .185 against him w/ 135 plate appearances. Okajima has been desginated for assignment.

The Sox have signed Kevin Millwood to a minor leage deal.

Beckett was pulled after the 6th b/c he had neck stiffness.

Having the Cubs in town is pretty cool, hopefully we can continue our winnng streak and end their modest 2 game streak.

I like our chances at 9 in a row.

Sox offense killing Cubs pitching tonight, Lester not looking good though. Salty w/ another HR, he is starting to get hot at the plate. Gonzalez is 3-3 so far.

I'm glad to see the offense come alive like that. I wonder how the pieces of the rotation will fare. God bless Wakefield...he just keeps going.

Quick news: Cubs have scratched Garza for tomorrows start due to a sore elbow.

For tonights game: Zambrano vs. Aceves

The Sox have won 7 straight, 10 of 12. They are 22-10 since April 16th , thats the best record in baseball. Starting tonights game the Sox are only 1/2 game out of 1st place. Youk has an 8 game hitting streak going.

Lackey had a shot in his elbow & played catch yesterday, Francona said he is closer to being back & things are encouraging. Jenks threw a bullpen session today & will throw another one on Monday. The Sox sent Iglesias back down to Pawtucket & called up Nava.

Ok my question is why in the hell did Francona stick w/ Albers so long in the 8th? I can understand not going to Bard to start but after we had a runner on 3B & 1B w/ no outs Albers should have been pulled.

Sox had a chance to take the division lead & choked it away

4 1/2 months to go.

I understand that but you play to win & Francona didnt play to win in the 8th.

The man has two World Series titles, I think he knows what he is doing at this point, like JT said, it's the Cubs.

So b/c it's the Cubs you shouldnt try to win the game when your up 3-1 in the 8th. Makes no sense at all.
