The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

I'm going to guess that Clay is done.

Gah, how impressive is Hack Wilson's record, that Adrian doesn't have a f'ing chance of catching it despite the season and lineup

Clay is going to another back specialist, apparently they will know whether they are going to shelve him for the year or not then, we really need his arm.

Really like the rich harden trade. Big if, but if he can stay healthy then he's a solid third if clay if finished this season. Plus we finally got rid of anderson guy killed it in single and double a but looks lost at the plate in triple a.

I wouldn't say "finally" as if Anderson is JD Drew or something. He is what he is, a 1B with some pop, a potentially decent player, but a dime a dozen guy.

I like the trade as well.

As long as he stays healthy he can be a solid guy in the rotation.

I seen JMoore freaking out about the trade on twitter and saying this kind of stuff is why he thinks Theo is overrated.

Boo Hoo, ya know?

Anderson will probably be a. 270, 20 HR guy if he gets a full time MLB gig. Theres no need to keep him in the organization with his road blocked with superior talent everywhere. If Harden can finish the year in one piece, with a relatively high level of production for a 3-5 guy, its a win. They didn't trade away any potential world beaters, and got a serviceable starter.

That's the way I look at it. As long as he gets through this season healthy, it's a win for us.

And if Clay comes back, having Harden is a bonus.

I think Anderson would have been decent but he wouldn't have been in the league for a good while anyways.

Good trade, IMO.

I can't say I'm overly surprised. Would've liked to have Harden at that price. I'm not sure if Bedard is worth a bag of balls at this point.

He hasn't been that bad this year, his k/bb ratio is over 2-1, opp avg is .226 and era is 3.45.

And anyone who think his numbers are decent because of Safeco are wrong, he has been much better on the road this year.

Either way, with Clay being done for the year we needed another arm.

His wifes health has got to be taking a toll on him.

Has been for a good while. Just a perfect storm, sucks fir the guy. But he's got to get his head into work, or ask for a leave of absence to get his mind cleared.

At this point he has got to take some time off, maybe get it together and try to come back.

I agree, see to his family and try again in a month,, or in the spring, with a clear mind.

I wouldn't mind him taking a month off and seeing where his head is then, if he thinks he can go then give it a shot, otherwise shut it down and come back in the spring like you said.
