The Official Boston Red Sox Thread

Photo finish. Just happened to be looking up a recipe on my phone when I heard it on the radio

Its funny I only tracked the 9th inning on mlb live and the girlfriend started complaining so I told her I'd turn it off after Jacoby's at-bat.

Worked out well. :loco:

Girlfriends might wage war on MLB.tv providers at some point.

The red sox have three of the top four AL MVP candidates

Ridiculous how great the top half of their lineup is. Going by wOBA/wRC+/etc., five of the top 25 hitters in baseball.
Don't get all SABR on us, we leave that to the Braves thread. Outside of normalization we don't play that game here.
As great as Adrian has been all year, Jacoby is the MVP.

I'm inclined to agree.

See how Frenchie does tonight, I'm going to bet that there's going to be a (relatively) sizeable number of Quebecois there tonight, maybe 1k

He is the catalyst for the Sox.

Do see his power surge as something that will stay or at least be close to what he has done this year or do you see it as what Reyes did early in his career, couple good power years only to fall back?

Ellsbury is a tallish guy with long arms, I think until people start jamming him, he's going to get a lot of pop. His frame and swing let him hit a lot of balls full throttle, elbows open, that many would take on the outside paint.

Best of both worlds, if he keeps good discipline and takes the inside crap, you have the usual suspects following him 2-5.

Didn't realize Crawford had that bad of a case of Wall Eyes.

Cross-eyed as a bat.

Lowrie will rejoin the team in Minnesota tomorrow.

Rumor going around that Ortiz is upset that the Red Sox FO has yet to approach him about a contract extension.

Big surprise there.

Could be his last year with the team, he is a prideful guy, may get upset when they only offer up a two year contract.

When I was in Boston last week talk was going around that the Sox could call Ryan Lavarnway up & make him a DH next season. He has been crushing the ball the past 2 1/2 months.

IF the Sox try to re-sign Ortiz I'd say they offer a 1 year deal worth $5-$8mill & have a club option for a 2nd year.

I highly doubt it. I don't see The Fenway Group maintaining salary after the Drew and Matsuzaka contracts come off, that cash probably won't be spent

What are the chances we make a push for Fielder this off season?

IMO 0%, if they don't resign Ortiz I see them going to the farm system for a DH (Lavarnway/Kalish/Reddick/Anderson/Middlebrooks)
