Baseball America has ranked the top 10 prospects in the Sox farm system.

1. 3B Will Middlebrooks
2. SS Xander Bogaerts
3. C Blake Swihart
4. RHP Anthony Ranaudo
5. OF Bryce Brentz
6. OF Brandon Jacobs
7. 3B Garin Cecchini
8. RHP Matt Barnes
9. C Ryan Lavarnway
10. OF Jackie Bradley Jr.

Very surprised that Lavarnway is that low, also surprised that Iglesias is not in the top 10. Brentz is a local East Tennessee boy.

So the coaching staff will look like this for the 2012 season:

Manager - Bobby Valentime
Bench Coach - Tim Bogar
Pitching Coach - Bob McClure
Hitting Coach - Dave Magadan
1B Coach - Alex Ochoa
3B Coach - Jerry Royster
Bullpen Coach - Gary Tuck

Red Sox have traded Josh Reddick to the A's for Andrew Bailey. Cherrington is building a strong/young bullpen, he still needs to add some quality starting pitching. Aceves & Bard are going to try & be starters, I'd rather see Bard in the pen though.

Carl Crawford had wrist surgery & may not be ready in time for the beginning of the season. We traded Scutaro to the Rockies for a minor league pitcher, looks like Aviles & Punto will platoon at SS. We also signed Cody Ross to add some depth in the OF. We have tried to sign Oswalt & Edwin Jackson but neither have been succesful. Catchers & Pitchers report in a few more days. Almost that time of year again.

Sox ain't doing nothing this year. I doubt they make the playoffs as of right now with the way things look

Care to elobirate? Also, is MLB doing away with divisions?

Boston will have their work cut out for them but if Clay can stay healthy, we have three top of the rotation pitchers.

Couple nice additions to the bullpen and it is up in the air about Bard being in the rotation or pen, he is good enough to excell at both stuff wise.

All in all, Boston could be the best team in baseball or they could be the third best team in the East.

I learned my lesson last year not to speak in absolutes. In sports, ya never know.

I don't think CJ Wilson is that great, but that's just me. That lineup still isn't great. I agree it'll be a battle. I think both teams get in..just think Texas takes division.

EEven if you're not a huge cj Wilson fan, he's their 3rd or 4th best pitcher, and its still someone they have that Texas now doesn't. Granted, if Yu Darvish is the shizzle like some think, he could be an ace.

They had Haren Santana and Weaver last year and didn't win division. Darvish cancels out Wilson, and Pujols isn't enough to make up the gap in lineups. If Feliz tranfers to the rotation well.. scary good team.

Depending on how feliz does, yeah. That'll be one of the best races, i'm not confident enough to make a pick either way. Gonna be interesting to see whose job Trout steals first.

Haren weaver Wilson Santana is a lot better than unproven Yu and Holland

Agree with great race. Two pretty oppositely constructed teams too. Will be fun. Sorry for hijacking the thread Sox fans. Have fun with Bobby V. Thanks for getting him off ESPN baseball telecasts.

Some players have already started to arrive in Ft. Meyers for Spring Training, it's getting close to that time of year.

TThey have a new stadium down there this year. So, so mad I can't go to spring training this year... i'll be there in 2013 though
