The Official Florida @ Tennessee Weekend Series Thread (Thurs. 4/6 8PM EST) ESPNU (Fri. 4/7 7PM EST) SEC Network (Sat. 4/8 2PM EST) ESPN 2

Maybe. But he isn’t supplanting Dollander and Burns has great stuff so you would hope whatever anamoly he is going through he figures it out. But I would agree Beam probably needs to be considered for Saturday starter next weekend against Arkansas.

I don't know if Tony is purposely setting his staff up this way so that he has a high percentage of winning game 3 and avoiding sweeps or increasing the odds of winning 2 out of 3.

But, at some point, regardless of future potential, the most proven guy is the most proven guy.

By then either the Chases revert to who they should be or there will be a new order.
I wonder if feeling certain of their spot has made them somewhat complacent. I used to think they were just pressing to be perfect and match last year.

That idea should be long gone in their heads by now… so maybe it’s not having a Tidwell lurking behind them to keep them honest. Idk. Just a thought

I think the thought process is Dollander, Burns, Beam was the best last year and the order of most talented as well. Burns didn’t just forget how to pitch. I don’t know what is wrong but he has to figure it out eventually.

I do think it wouldn’t hurt Burns to be relegated to Sunday for a few weeks to help him get some confidence back.

Yep, he’s sending out Chase Dollander to surrender Friday games 🙄

He’s had 3+ in almost every start from what I recall. Yes, today was

He had 2 walks or less in 4 of his 7 starts coming into today.

He had a start against Ole Miss and today that were beyond dreadful. I get your overall point that he isn't a Cy Young candidate and therefore it's not surprising he didn't pitch like a Cy Young candidate today.

I will just tell you that following this team, a guy will either go out and mow people down or get lit up (like today). There is no in between. And even when they are going good, they can have an inning from hell thrown in there for fun.

It’s hard to look strong throwing a knuckleball just because of the way it’s thrown. But he threw it pretty hard for what it was. I could only ever throw one in the 50’s just messing around. He got in the 70’s in his heyday iirc
. My dad’s favorite was Phil Niekro…great knuckle baller.
