The Official Joe Gibbs Racing Team Thread

Kyle Busch became the first driver in NASCAR history to win at least 25 times in all three national touring series (Cup, Nationwide, Truck).

Have just heard that Brian Vicker will be the repalcement for Denny and that Michael Waltrip says that Mark will fill his commitment for MWR the rest of the season. Should be interesting. Who willl the points go to?

Well that stinks, but he does have his commitments to MWR. I hope he runs well in the one race he has, but historically he never really runs that great at Martinsville.

I know y'all aren't happy about Vickers taking over but I hope Vickers can show out in good equipment and maybe land a full time ride somewhere for next year.

I'd rather see Mark run it, but I'm glad Vickers is getting a shot too. He runs pretty consistent when he subs in the #55. It's the same situation where I'm interested to see how a driver will perform in what I think is a little better equipment than what he usually runs.

The driver will get the points he earns no matter how many different teams he drives for, but the 11 car gets the owner points for wherever it finishes regardless who is driving it. The driver points determing the championsip, and the owner points determine provisionals and starting positions in case quaifying is rained out.

I'm thinking he will be in the 55 full time next year unless one of the young Nationwide drivers gets hot and gets the ride. Waltrip seems to have things going good over there. Alot of young drivers would love to try to get their Sprint Cup career started in one of his cars.

I could see Vickers taking over whenever Martin finally does shut it down but I just wonder how long Vickers will wait if Martin continues to run a partial sche.

With the market like it is, a full Nationwide schedulewith Gibbs and a hand full of Cup races will prob keep him happy for another year or 2. Better than a full time Cup ride that isn't competitive.

Agree with that. Guess I should have said if a good full time ride became available.

I never understood the point of running a partial schedule. If I'm a driver, I'm running a full season and trying to win the cup
