The Official Larry Fedora Thread I

Is Fedora going to leave UNC after 1 year? That would be pulling a Kiffin! I don't think he will.

The ole saying holds true Money talks and BS walks....And to coach in the SEC.....4 major confrences coming with 16 teams...SEC, Big 10, Pac 10, and ACC....64 teams for the NC...

Leaving now would not be a Kiffin.
Kiffin left less than a month before signing day.

NC would still have tome to hire Strong.

Good deal we get Fedora, NC gets Strong.

As long as we do not bring back Cutcliff or Fulmer. I just do not undestand why anyone would want them back. They keep saying Cut has done good at Duke. They get blown out. In the ACC.

I would say that Cut has done good at Duke in the perspective that he has the academic requirements for athletic admissions to hurdle. Otherwise... eeeeh. I, too, would prefer someone other than Cut.

Fedora has them at 7-4 with a probable win against UVA to finish 8-4 and to be tied for the ACC Coastal Division lead. Not bad for a program who's had three head coaches in two seasons and is under NCAA sanctions (postseason ban).

And... in his first year there. Fedora is not the top name on my wish list, but he certainly is not on the bottom of it, either.

Would be funny fedora to UT and Dooley to southern

Yeah... funny for us, but not for USM. Though I'm VFL, I do hope Southern gets a decent coach, as I live in Gulfport at the present time.

I like most of what he did at Southern Miss. But that performance the year after he left concerns me. Not everything going down with an 0-12 program is the fault of a first-year head coach. Some of the responsibility has to rest with the talent-level the previous coach left behind. I'd want someone to actually talk to folks down in Hattiesburg and find out how much of the fault rests with Johnson and how much is on Fedora.

This being said, Fedora did fine work getting those UNC kids to buy in to what he was trying to do in the face of a ban from post-season competition.

Definitely warrants a look. The overall resume is impressive.

Even Saban isn't getting much higher than 3* to Southern Miss. Plus almost everyone agrees that Ellis Johnson was just really bad.

Considering most USM people put all of the blame on Ellis Johnson (they DID return 13 starters this year) I think they've all got favorable opinions of Fedora

Didn't they lose to Duke.

Jus sayin

Yes, and GA Tech put up 68 points on him.

Fedora was always good for a 7-6 record every year at Southern Miss. Had one big year and got a gig at UNC. They were actually expected to finish on the edge of the Top 25, so the talent was already there. It also helped that VA Tech had an off year and Miami sucks right now.

Dont even get me started. Simply put, ellis johnson is horrendous

Fadora recruited pretty well to S.Miss for C-USA standards. His biggest coupe was SLAUGHTERING the beloved Kevin Sumlin in the C-USA championship game 49-28. Sumlin's team came in ranked #6 with a Heistman candidate QB in Keenum. Many people forget that. Spoiled Sumlin's BCS bid.

In all fairness, UNC was a tough situation for any coach to take over when he did. And they've lost basically everyone to the NFL that Davis and crew brought in. His talent (besides the RB) was average to good.

True. This year he lost to Cutcliffe, Strong, and let a horrid GA Tech squad put 68 up on him. Maybe he'll bring his old boss Zooker with him.
