The Official Larry Fedora Thread I

Per Adam Himmelbach Louisville and Strong are working on renegotiating Strong's contract now with the help of Wyatt, Tarrant and Combs LLC..

I hope that is true, I do not want Strong

AKA this is UL's counteroffer. Skeeter said it would have to be a ridiculous one for Strong to stay

Pains me to say this, but Fedora ain't happening. Just found out he didn't even interview. Trust me (yes, trust the guy with 3 posts).

Pat Forde on Dan Patrick show a few minutes ago:

if he (Charlie Strong) stays they (Tennessee) will be going to Larry Fedora"

"if it goes past Larry fedora then the whole state of Tennessee may burn"

I continue to hear the chatter picking up today on Fedora being hired and announced by Thursday, possibly earlier if the contract details get ironed out. Naturally, Hart is beginning to worry about the negative perception continuing to be perpetuated after every report that another coach has "turned down" UT (regardless of true interest from our side or not). Pardon the baseball analogy, but while Fedora may not be a home run hire, Hart feels like he's a solid triple based on the jobs he has done at So Miss and UNC and how our current state of the program is at a similar stage.

While I'm admittedly not jumping up and down at the thought of Fedora, at this point I think he's a solid hire with a solid track record and good future potential. Not sure we can ask for much more right now.

Thoughts?

I stand by my statement. Fedora named coach by friday

At this point as long as it's one of Strong/Fedora I'll be very happy. Anyone else and I'd be very disappointed.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely zero sources on this subject, but I just have a feeling that Hart will eventually settle on someone that is not on anyone's radar like Arkansas did. Maybe a Dabo Sweeney type or something like that. I have no evidene to back it up, but just a feeling, which is not worth a single key on my keyboard. Just thought I'd share.

Spot on IMO.

Fedora is a solid, if not spectacular hire. There's going to be some stigma with him leaving UNC after only one season that UT will have to deal with, particularly with the Kiffin debacle.
But I think it's clear Hart wants a resolution quickly and if Fedora is their guy, they'll move quickly after Strong.
Fan reaction will be mixed, but I think he would win people over quickly.

Fedora is rock solid. I don't see him as an option ,because I don't see him leaving UNC after one season. How bad would that make us look since Kiffin left us after one season.

True, but apparently that's how you play the game nowadays. No one else in the country gave two shizs when it happened to us, so now, it looks like it may happen to them. Ohnoes...

IMO, this guy could be the next Urban Meyer. Offensive minded, relentless and intense all the time, and the dude has had a winning record everywhere he has been. Fedora over Strong all day.
