The Official Larry Fedora Thread I

Spot on IMO.

Fedora is a solid, if not spectacular hire. There's going to be some stigma with him leaving UNC after only one season that UT will have to deal with, particularly with the Kiffin debacle.
But I think it's clear Hart wants a resolution quickly and if Fedora is their guy, they'll move quickly after Strong.
Fan reaction will be mixed, but I think he would win people over quickly.

Personally, I'd rather have a solid hire than a spectacular hire. Kiffin was supposed to be a spectacular hire, but look at what that brought us. Dooley was an up-and-comer, and we went down-and-goner. Hope Fedora is truly a solid hire, and I believe he would be. I like his aggressiveness on both sides of the ball. He will need a great DC to compliment his offense though.

IMO, this guy could be the next Urban Meyer. Offensive minded, relentless and intense all the time, and the dude has had a winning record everywhere he has been.

This thought popped into my head earlier. Wouldn't be a hire that most people would go "wow" at immediately, but I feel like he could be great here.

Ahh... Fedora is all that's really left. If Hart can't get him it is obvious we were only a whipping post for other coaches to get more $$$$

I want either Larry Fedora or Gundy. I would jump up and down in cali if we did!

Wouldn't you guys feel bad stealing him after one year at UNC? Would that make him a POS in the eyes of everyone that hates Kiffin?

okay. I can and will support it.

He's got some outs:

1) Conference instability. The SEC isn't going anywhere.

2) Significant pay raise.

3) NCAA academic issues.

4) NCAA sanctions.

5) Also, if rocky is correct, he felt that the administration lied to him about said NCAA issues.

6) Leaving the first week of December, giving two months before signing day, not two weeks.

UNC had no problem hiring a basketball coach after just one season at his school.

Hart needs to make this happen. I like strong and still believe he would do a great job here but fedora seems to be a guy with huge massive potential. I am so confused on what Harris doing and it is scaring the holy hell out of me.

Fedora Tells Recruit He's Staying

Larry Fedora addressed the Tennessee vacancy rumors in a conversation with Jordan Fieulleteau on Wednesday afternoon, reassuring the North Carolina pledge that he's staying in Chapel Hill.

“I asked him about the Tennessee situation, because I wanted to make sure it was all rumors because he’s the coach of the school I committed to,” Fieulleteau said. “He said ‘Yeah, it’s all rumors. Don’t believe it.’ He said he didn’t even know how the rumors got started. He was just saying I don’t have anything to worry about, because he’s staying at UNC.
“I talked to him on Saturday, too, because I was there for the state championship game. He said he wasn’t going anywhere [and] he plans on ending his career at UNC.”

Fieulleteau, a 6-foot-3, 197-pound wide receiver, was one of the first 2013 prospects to commit to UNC. He’ll graduate from Raleigh (N.C.) Wakefield High School on Dec. 21 and enroll at UNC in January.

“I just wanted to make sure with all these rumors going around,” Fieulleteau said. “It’s like crunch time for me, because I graduate soon. I didn’t want to get there and then the head coach leave.

“At first I was like ‘It’s not true,’ but then more and more rumors started coming out. So I was just like, I need to get some more research done and see what’s going on. So I figured I’d just go to the direct source.”

UNC assistant coach Deke Adams had an in-home visit with Fieulleteau last night where he calmed his fears until additional rumors circulated.

“He just said ‘You can’t believe all the rumors,’” Fieulleteau said. “My mom asked him a lot of questions about [Fedora possibly leaving], because she was more worried about it.”

Fieulleteau will have an in-home visit with Fedora on Sunday and then he’ll officially visit UNC the following weekend.

Fieulleteau was recently named the Raleigh News & Observer All-Metro team. He ended his senior season with 108 receptions for 1,649 yards, and 24 touchdowns while helping Wakefield to an 11-2 record.

“It was an honor to be one of the few people to be selected to the team,” Fieulleteau said. “I think I had a great season, but I wish we could have gone further in the playoffs.”
