After Gruden, he's #1 on my list.

And for those worried about how it would look, as I posted early, UNC is having a huge academic scandal right now, and it's affecting the athletic department BAD.

He could use that to say why he is leaving.

He is very aggressive. Great energy. Connects well with parents.

People trust me, this guy can bring UT back to national prominence.

Cannot remember who but here on 104 Sport Talk in Nashville they had someone talking about the possible coaches for UT and Fedora's name came up. the possibilty was there according to them. They said he's better than the team is showing and that NC has some issues. They believed if the right offer came around Fedora would take it and if Gruden doesn't pan out his name might be in the Top 2-3,

I think he is high energy and all that, I am concernced about the defense. We just got rid of a coach that scored huge points against some very good football teams and lost. UNC gave up 68 to GT. I just don't want to bring in someone that has the same mindset.

Just mentioned Fedora on TOS along with Golden, Fisher, and Butch Davis (WTF?) as the four names they're hearing now.

This is our guy. If we get him along with a good defensive coordinator we could see tons of improvement next season. This guy has been successful everywhere he's coached.

If this comes down to fedora and golden then either Hart dropped the ball or UT is not a good job any more. Not saying Fedora would do horrible but stop with the home run bs. No one knows how good he would do at this level. He's a risk just like Golden would be.

I think you guys have talked me into being okay with this hire. Any chance he'd leave UNC after just one year?
I would honestly hate to do that to someone, as I know how much it hurts...I just hate UNC with a passion. I grew up in eastern NC supporting ECU and NCSU.

Kind of like Gruden would be. How many college games has he won? I actually think the idea that UT is not a prime job any longer is very possible. We are on probation currently. The last 4-5 years have been a train wreck. Our defense was the laughing stock of college football. Yes we have good facilities. We have a passionate fanbase. We have tradition. This team is still a very large project. The type of coaches we want are the same ones every team wants. Alot of other schools/NFL teams would be more appealing than what UT is right now IMO. All Hart can do is hire the best guy who will take the job. Just because the fans want someone, does not mean that guy wants to be at UT.

Another hire that would cause a surge in ticket sales and contributions. Also a big uptick for players considering going pro and for top quality recruits; I want to stay at/go to UT and get the chance to play for larry fedora. Sounds good to me.

I think Fedora has a built in reason to leave after 1 year with the NCAA stuff. Only concern I would have is I read where the AD there actually tried to talk him into NOT taking the job for fear of the NCAA rulings. He may be willing to ride it out. It could also be alot worse than he realized it was. We should know pretty quick I think. I think we will have our coach by Sunday at the latest.

Southern Miss Defense Rankings in his three years were 80(2010), 47(2011) and 29(2011). They got better each year and despite the 68 versus GT this year NC was 54th overall. Not THAT bad. NC went from 53rd to 15th in total offense. They lost by 1, 5 and 3 points in three of their 4 losses.

He may not be a sexy hire but I think he would win 8-10 games a year and challenge in the East.

I think that would be the #1 question Hart would have to ask before anything. If Fedora is like Cut and hell bent on keeping his staff together, I doubt we could make the hire. If he is willing to hire a new defensive staff he could be the guy.

Ellis Johnson is available. He's quite alright in my book. Can Larry Fedora recruit in the SEC? Does he have SEC ties? Very important IMO.

I don't want him, but I actually read up on the guy and was quite impressed with his track record. Good coach, like Golden, but not what UT needs right now to make a big splash.

Dude can coach offense and can recruit. If he got a DC that can actually put guys in position to make a tackle I could buy into it.
