The "official" Lost thread

The main question being discussed in here that interests me most is who is the MIB. Is he Jacob's brother who turned into the smoke monster, or was the smoke monster released and took over his body?

I'm guessing that its his brother considering the way that he has talked about having an evil mother and how Jacob took his body.

You know what.

We are so used to calling the brother Smokie, MIB, Locke, smoke monster, cerberus or the evil. That in this episode when he was not named or called anything other than son or brother we never noticed that he technically has no know name.

I noticed. I was waiting for his mom to give him his name when he was born. When she said she only had one name I almost gave up and figured we would never learn it. I think it will be relevant to one of the characters and that is why they are holding back.

Just another thought along the path of Lost. Most would probably agree that we've been given subtle hints along the way. I think one of them is the huge, very old-looking tree we've seen in so many recent episodes. I've said before I think we are watching a version of the Adam and Eve\Birth of Civilization story. I think the tree could be either the Tree of Life or the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Maybe the roots tap into the light source, who knows, but I think it is significant.

Another is the tapestry that Mom was weaving. It's been in prior episodes too. I don't think it's an accident or irrelevant.

Just pondering.

Yes, it was in the foot where Jacob stayed.

Ah yes, the foot. Anyone remember the story of the Tower of Babel from the Bible? Or was it the story of Nebakudnezzar (sp?)? Anyway, in one of the Old Testament stories, there is a tale of a statute made with clay or mud feet, bronze legs, silver middle and gold head. There are many interpretations of this story, one being the inevitable advance then collapse of civilization(s). That makes sense in Lost, especially since the statue has apparently crumbled back to what appears to be just the clay-looking feet.

Aha! Thank you!

Man, Lost is just all interwined with stories from the Bible.
