The "official" Lost thread

I don't care what anyone says, and I don't care if the conclusion contradicts this statement: JACOB IS THE EVIL ONE, NOT THE MIB.

The man in black NEVER tried to hurt Jacob, yet Jacob tackled him and beat him to a pulp twice, then threw his body into the "light" where he knew something "worse than death" would happen to the MIB. That's evil.

At this point maybe but 2000 years of bitterness will certainly change people. A "good" person wouldn't blow up a sub full of people especially for a selfish reason.

For me last night the show showed up Jacob is/was a mommas boy and MIB was the independent thinker. So, how does that relate to how things work on the island? Still no fracking idea.

Well, a good person wouldn't throw his brother into a pit where he knew something "worse than death" would happen to him.

In a lot of ways, neither of them seem good to me...both seem pretty evil. But if I had to pick one to be evil and the other to be good, I'd pick the MIB to be good based on what I know so far.

True but we still aren't sure to what end the people on the island are there for, for all we know they may have been brought there to carry out an evil purpose, then the act of destroying them would be viewed as a necessary evil for the sake of good. I'm not sure this is the correct way of looking at it but at this point anything is possible.

I find it interesting though that Jacob has been explained to some extent as well as his duality, although I think we have only scratched the surface to this point. I remember the shack and those who supposedly talked with and saw Jacob, it is much more likely they were speaking with the MIB, I have a feeling this will be addressed along with the significance of the shack.

Neither one of them are saints but MIB has done way worse things than Jacob. Think of what all has happened before this episode.

Jacob has one job, protect the island. He has to do whatever he can to do so.

MIB is killing people, lot of them, for selfish reasons.

I thought it to be a very good episode. I have yet to see a episode that when questions where answered there were not more raised, this is lost.

Why was the frozen donkey wheel not frozen?

In this episode we seem to have the answer to why Locke saw a "beautiful light" when he saw the monster in Season One. Because it came from The Source, which the Man in Black himself called 'beautiful' when he saw it. Connection?

Some have assumed that their mother destroyed the island village and wells. If she was the islands protector? Then the island\she had a antagonist\opposite. Which their is a real possibility that this has been playing out over and over though out time for a very long time.

The style of Dress worn and the rudimentary tools used and those crescent moon amulets worn by the hunters as necklaces. In mythology the the crescent moon protects you from evil and magic. All three(3) hunter wore them. The wardrobes put me in mind of the ancient Greeks which is also I think the language being spoken at the start of the show.

the MIB murdered his own "mother"...

the MIB murdered his own "mother"...

True, but he was very remorseful when he did it. Also, you could say he was acting in self defense because it seemed like his mother did try to kill him, and it seems as if she killed all of the people as well. Plus, he thought she was a crazy woman and felt he was protecting himself and Jacob. He felt like he had to kill her.

If she wanted to kill him she would have left him at the bottom of the well when she filled it in. She wanted to die and needed him to kill her.

Well, the Man in Black didn't know that. All he knows is that she attacked him and then all his people were dead.

T-rex is one of the main characters. Everyone knows that. They actually landed on the island from Jurassic Park

Let's look over the hundreds of people that MIB has killed.
