The "official" Lost thread

also, i know that i have a good chance of getting eaten alive for this.....but the quality of the series has been on a good decline for awhile now IMO. it's still real good and I think it's been one of the better shows on TV throughout its tenure, but for me, it's been downhill ever since the start of season 3. in season 1 and 2 i thought it could have potentially been the best show in TV history. i can't really say that now.

i'm pretty sure i'm in the minority here and am not sure of how many others feel this way. it obviously hasn't ended yet so there's a chance I could be wrong and everything is ended and tied together beautifully....but i get the feeling that that's not going to be how it ends.

and last night's episode convinced me of that. I have a feeling I'm going to be very disappointed Sunday night. Just seemed to rushed to tie it all together

I told my wife after getting caught up with season one and following season two that I was pretty sure this show was going to piss me off at the end.

The first seasons were good about throwing twists out there and creating questions in the mind of the viewer. Somewhere along the line it slowed down in this aspect which is normal but they never answered or gave any explanation in these episodes and even posed more questions to the viewer. As I see it we are left with a very rushed ending and most of the questions will never be addressed.

Saw Matthew Fox on Jimmy Fallon last night. He said he was really pleased with the ending. He said it surprised him how the writers ended it but that he thought it was a really beautiful and poetic ending. That statement leaves me feeling quite hopeful about Sunday!

I also look for it to be better than the Debbie downer crowd predicts.

Anybody looking for all of the answers or even most of the answers is going to be disappointed. I pretty much decided a couple years ago we wouldn't be getting them all. I'm just excited to see how this story ends, and what happens to all the characters. That's what this shows always been about anyways, the characters. The finale is going to be awesome brotha.

Go watch season 2 again, nothing happens, its all set-up. There was a ton of filler. The producers have even admitted that they were stalling.

Another episode that feels a little rushed IMO, Jack becoming the man happened way too quickly it seems to me. I am going to be disappointed in the ending to this thing, I can already tell.

It had to happen before the finale because that would have been an awfully boring way to start the next episode. Now, all the pieces are in place and the fight can begin.

like i said, i'm probably in the minority. in season 2 the characters were still being developed and the "rivalry" with the others was in full effect. that's part of why i liked it so much. the first half of season 3 was pretty boring and IMO.....it hasn't been the same ever since.

The only thing that can save this ending is a twist, I already expect that Jack will not be the one to kill smokie, they already set this up with Desmond, Hurley will play a role as well.

I'm still trying to figure out some of the mainland scenes though, they are either alternate realities or they are flashbacks of some sort. Perhaps it is my curious nature but I want to know more about the history and special properties of the island and how so many players came to know about it. Certainly the characters and the climax should play a role but they missed on explaining the island. Some will say that was the point all along the island is secondary to the drama played out by the characters but to me it makes the story less valid and a little cheesy. Perhaps they will surprise me but I expected much more from the last few episodes.
If you haven't figured out the sideways scenes yet then of course you think the ending will be disappointing. You're not paying close enough attention to know whats going on. The island and the sideways time-line have already been explained.

They were stalling the beginning of season 3. I agree, that was the worse time period of the show.

Really? When was that? People have theories but I didn't realize it was "solved".
