The "official" Lost thread

Did you want to see how long Hurley and Ben protected the island or Frank's crew land somewhere? I think Jack's death was a perfect way to end the story on the island, just me.

I think many people who are disappointed with the ending feel that way because there was this huge elaborate build up to an end that left them feeling underwhelmed. I understand it was a story about the characters but if that's the case it could have been done just as well without all the over the top island mysticism. I guess what i'm getting at is the climax (which lasted the better part of four seasons) was full of mind f*%#@ but gave way to what many feel was an overly simplistic ending. That's JMO though.

it would have been ok to have a bit of closure on the other characters, but it is what it is. they chose the easy way out and alot of people are happy with that.

me personally, i was looking for a huge epic twist at the end that was just gonna blow my mind, but sadly it never came.

So what wasn't answered that you wish had been?

Me, I wanted to know why Walt was special, but I kind of figured a long time ago that one wasn't going to be answered. But I also wanted to know what was the deal with Jacob's cabin and the ashes.

There are many I wanted answered, why where there temples and other ruins on the island. How and why did the Black Rock end up in the middle of the island. How did Desmond see the alternate timeline before he was dead. These are just a few that many people would like to know the answer too and while I realize not every question could be answered there are many holes in the story that many feel should have been addressed and everybody will give you different answers but there are a few that leave some gaping holes in the story.

i wasn't necessarily looking for answers as much as i wanted to be mind F@*&ed at the end. i just wanted to come away thinking "wtf did i just witness?". you know kind of like the whole series was.

watching this show for 6 years, i had a pretty good feeling that there were not going to be many answers to much.

They answered your black rock question.

Pretty sure this was explained.

It blows my mind that it was implied that everything took place in such a short amount of time.

From the time that Jack's plane it the ground and we first saw him all this was in his mind.

The fact that this post took longer for me to type then everything that happened on the show supposedly did in real time...my mind is blown...

I don't think that they ever intended to tell us why the ruins are on the island. No answer would be as cool as what we can come up with in our head. Think about Stonehenge. Part of the mystique is that we don't truly know what it is or who built it. That's what makes it so fascinating to so many people.

As others have said, they explained the Black Rock.

Desmond could see into the other time-lines after Widmore exposed him to the electromagnetic solenoid coils. They foreshadowed this in The Constant.

huh? They were on the island for a while

maybe I am misunderstanding but I thought that they writers were implying that it happened in his mind. Kinda like purgatory...maybe I am way off...

by the way you might want to shrink that picture a bit

the sideways part was but the island part was real

Come on man. Everything on the island was real.

I felt a little let down at the end...but watching the entire last season I knew that I wasn't going to be fulfilled.

My favorite character in the show was the island and in the end the focus shifted away from it. Character development is great and all but I guess my mind is just wired to be fascinated by the mysteries of the island.

The most exciting time of the show was the discovery and exploration of Dharma, for me at least.

In the back of my head, i wonder if DL and CC will get all Lucas on us and reboot this series in some form to focus more on the island mysteries angle.Maybe a few failed projects later i could see it as a possibility.

I think it would be a disaster, those who liked it the way it was would be disappointed and sequels are hardly ever up to par. We would likely be very disappointed.
