The "official" Lost thread

He's just mad that the aliens never showed up. He was so convinced that the island was going to be some big huge Hitchcockian twist that he never bothered to pay attention to anything and was only looking at what HE thought the show should be about.

I don't care that my theory was wrong. I had other theories too. Also wrong, apparently. I didn't really expect to be right. I just expected that there was some underlying theory. And I think the writers had one at some point. But it was probably guessed long ago by the audience and the writers just couldn't bring themselves to go through with it since someone already knew. Actually, it was probably the purgatory thing. They denied the purgatory angle and, sure, they now say the island wasn't purgatory. But of course purgatory was a major factor. They just slipped in the sideways universe thing to supposedly throw everyone off. Lame.

It's a show you have to start from the beginning as well and have patience with the storyline in season 1, because the buildup of the main arch storylines and the backstory of the two brothers into seasons 2, 3 and 4 is well worth the investment. I think since it's on the CW it gets a bad rap. Hope you enjoy and feel free to post in the thread on here :eek:k:

I wish I had it now to start on but I have to wait until the weekend! :cray:

I will for sure check out the thread once I get started on it! Can't wait!! :)

Interesting idea (IMO): the survivors' time on the island served as a chance to re-write their history, to redo some of the mistakes they had made before, and to form lasting and meaningful relationships with their fellow man -- much of which had been flawed in their prior life. That's why it was said to be the "most important" time of their lives. Much like war veterans, or others who have been through a crisis: an experience that exhibits what they were "made of." Much of their prior lives had been dictated by unfortunate situations that were forced upon them by family/government. On the island, they were able to reconcile conflicts and make a new "life," thus allowing their true "souls" to shine, rather than be overshadowed by the past. In the end, they were all "better" from their experience, and were judged by that.

Just my take. I thought it was great. If more TV was so well written and thought-provoking, I would probably spend a lot more time on the tube.

Very good post! I agree completely!! :)

Especially about TV being more thought provoking and well written. I swear reality shows have destroyed television(with the exception of shows like the First 48).

He cares more about the mysteries/answers than the characters themselves.

I understand that the characters were important. I loved and hated them too. I still think that, overall, the series was good. And I think the resolution of the character stories was good. I have stated only that the ending of the show sucked. And I think that because, as important as the characters were, the island and its mysteries were equally as important as the characters (or nearly so). I just think the writers totally screwed up that half of the conclusion. We know very little more about the island now than when the show began. And that disappoints me greatly.

Watch the first season of Supernatural and see if you like it. Im not going to say it's as good as Lost but similar sort of mythical storylines.Ironically both actors that played Jacob and MIB are two key characters in the past season of Supernatural.

It's not on hulu. Lame.

I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet that's why I'm having to borrow them! :/

Honestly, it looks horrible. I was willing to give it a shot off wm's recommendation, but I don't have enough time to rent stuff and then watch it on their timetable.

I can see how anyone can think the show is horrible. You do have to realize this show is promoted via the CW teen second rate hack ad team so it seems to look like the rest of the garbage on there. The acting is so so and im not saying its the greatest show ever, but its one of the better ones on the air right now.

That stuff looks malwarelicious. Is it safe?

I got a rogue spyware virus on my computer the other day because of an online tv site. Took me forever to delete all the registries and crap it had on my comp.

I'll give it a shot. I actually gave up on Lost after a few episodes and wished I hadn't. Had to catch back up later.

I pretty much don't even watch TV anymore these days. Breaking Bad was the other show I watched, but it's been dull lately. Justified got old pretty fast, too.

I never have had any problems and i know alot of "streaming shows" sites out there are chock full of malware so i wouldn't put a address up that i would think would be unsafe but as with any site beyond google, tread at your own risk.
I think i have got more malware on here than on that site though.

Justified has been letting me down lately as well. Im starting to wonder how much storyline you can suck out of the foothills of Kentucky.

I wish Damages was still on.

According to EW.com, "Multiple sources confirm...that Sony is talking to DirecTV’s 101 Network about partnering on a possible fourth season of Damages. The cost-sharing arrangement would be similar to the one DirecTV and NBC forged with Friday Night Lights, which means future seasons of Damages would air first on DirecTV with a second window on FX."

On the same subject, I wish Deadwood was still on.

"You're not John Locke. You disrespect his memory by wearing his face, but you're nothing like him. Turns out he was right about most everything. I just wish I coulda told him that while he was still alive."

I've had some time to reflect on the final show as well as the series as a whole and I have realized why I was so disappointed with the way it ended. Let me start off by saying I was convinced by season 2 that I would be unhappy with the ending but couldn't really put my finger on it. I was always intrigued by the island and it's properties that brought the plane to the island and for me that was the driving force for my interest in the show. The characters were well played and I liked the dynamics they had. For me though the main interest was always the island and ultimately because of my fascination with the island the scenes they devoted to the light in the cave did not satisfy me, there was much about the final season that did not satisfy me. I always had a sneaking suspicion that the ending of this show was going to remind me of an old episode of Fantasy Island (I know a real blast from the past) and in a way it kind of did.

In the end it was a good show, the characters were top notch and the story line was good, good enough to keep a viewer who knew he was going to be disappointed interested in the show. I find it hard to watch pretty much anything on network tv these days, there just isn't much that interests me although I did enjoy Sons of Anarchy for a while.

I guess I'll just stick to watching the History Channel and Nat Geo since many of the shows interest me. I also like The First 48, I saw another poster mentioned them earlier.
