You certainly see reality differently. I doubt you see it more clearly.

Here's a hypothetical for you, what if Elizabeth Warren gets elected? Would you support her after her years of lying about being Native American? Should we appoint a SC to investigate any benefits she may have gotten from her false claims? What if that SC digs up other sordid yet unrelated tidbits about her past? Would her lies justify undoing a lawful election and remove her from office? What would you say to people who claimed her cultural appropriation made her the worst ever?
I really hope she gets the nomination. The only person I would enjoy more than having her run against Trump would be Cortez. She’s a nut case!!!

The porn star payoff is a potential violation. But if you follow precedent, Obama was found guilty of campaign violations as well. Nothing happened.

Even then they would have to prove him paying her off was for political reasons and not personal reasons. I don’t think you could ever prove that

Would depend on where the funds came from. Wouldn’t necessarily be one. Even if it was there is zero chance anyone with a brain would call that grounds for impeachment

As I understand it the funds came from Trump so it's not misuse of campaign funds (like John Edwards). The "hook" is if it was spending on the campaign it should have been reported to the FEC. It's a questionable situation and Cohen pled to it but wasn't "convicted" per se (a judge or jury did not hear evidence and determine guilt). He pled to it to avoid bigger charges stemming from his taxi shenanigans and other tax evasion.

Bottomline it's a stretch call it crime for which a conviction could be won.

Even more of a stretch to think it's an impeachable offense

And it all hinges on the ability to prove the money was paid for political purposes. Given he’s married, it would be almost impossible to prove this spending wasn’t of a personal nature.

I think you are spot on

Cohen's claim that Trump didn't want to win would also lend credence to that possibility (personal reasons). I'm betting he's paid others when he wasn't running for POTUS and that's further evidence it was for personal reasons.

Evil - hows your Buzzfeed theory coming? Hear anything today to suggest Trump suborned perjury and there's documentation to show it?

Also supported by the National Enquirer stuff

Leopold and Cormier have always said their sources were not Cohen. Cohen's testimony today was largely consistent with their story. Whether Trump speaking in a code to Cohen (which Cohen took to be a direction to lie) constitutes "directing" Cohen to lie to Congress seems to be the rub at this point.

The code vs direction was about paying off Daniels as I understand it; not his lying to Congress (the topic of the BF article)

Did he even say his lying to Congress was from code he received?

Did he say he has any documentation supporting that?

No reasonable person would consider that a crime. If he didn’t come out and say “hey, you should lie” then there’s no case based on “I felt he wanted me to lie. Come on lawyer. I expect better

I didn't see any of it today but did he even suggest the reason he lied to Congress was because he got the "sign" from Trump?

As I recall, the "code" vs directed was about doing the payoff but I could be wrong.
