The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Sponsorship is an issue at Ganassi with Target backing down, and sponsorship and performance is an ongoing issue at Roush, which makes me think that both Larson and Stenhouse will jump. I think those will be the two biggest names to switch rides. Keselowski, McMurray, Hamlin, and Kenseth will stay put. Cousin Carl isn't coming back.

Found this interesting if that happens. I don't think they ban all cup drivers from xfinity though. The rest of that is possible IMO

I believe that Bubba will find a ride, possibly replacing Blaney. I think Blaney will move over to Penske fielding a 3rd team. I see Larson moving to Hendrick. I see Stenhouse moving to SHR or Hendrick. Just going out on a limb here with not a whole lot to go on.

I think Blaney to Penske was the plan all along. Larson to Hendrick would be a win win situation for all involved. I've also heard that if Keselowski does not stay at Penske he could take over the 88 car. It could get interesting this off season.

Brad still has animosity over Hendrick parting ways. He'd much rather work things out with Penske.

I would rather him stay with Penske myself, Penske has worked their way from being decent to contenders every week. A 3 car team of BK, Logano, and Blaney could be really good IMO

By all accounts, Brad is just leveraging his free agent status to add financial support for his truck team.

A good, old fashioned staring contest.

Im of two minds on this.

I want whatever will help nascar grow and be successful and if having cup drivers does that, it should continue.

However, you don't see Lewis Hamilton going down to F2 or Scott Dixon going down to Indy lights. Somehow those lower series manage to do just fine. Perhaps nascar needs to look into that.

I like the second train of thought and that's my thoughts as well. It's not any fun when you see the cup guys go down and win. I get the money side of it and all that but IMO it would be a better thing and make it a true developmental series without those guys dropping down. I like they've limited the races they can run. I think that was a step in the right direction.

Danica is probably on her way out, as stated in this thread. Kahne is likely out at Hendrick leaving two rides open. Hendrick will possibly throw the bank at Larson and Keselowski for the 88 and 5 rides. If Brad actually left Penske, which I don't think will happen, Blaney would fill his seat.

Can't see Brad coming to Hendricks! Larson, possibly. If so, will he drive 88 or 5?

It is a ride with a top tier team. Would you rather have the worst car at the best team or the best car at the worst team?

They're both career killers.

Fortunately, Kyle Busch realized it and got out before it was too late.

It didn't kill Mark Martin's career. In fact, it rejuvenated his.

Mark Martin also drove the 5 car team Terry Labonte drove (and Kyle Busch too actually).

I'm talking about the 25 car. That's the one Henddrick has never cared about doing anything with. I know it's confusing with the number changes.

Nadeau had some success in it but he made some bad hires after that in nemechek and mears.

Nadeau won 1 race.

Richmond was the only guy who had success. I'd also allow Ken Schrader, but that was 20 something years ago

Wasnt the 5 team techincally the old 25 team when Martin drove? Jr replaced Kyle and Martin replaced Mears

Well then...

Matt Kenseth doesn't expect to race for Joe Gibbs next season

JGR likely would replace Kenseth in its No. 20 Cup car with Erik Jones, whom JGR allowed to sign a one-year Cup contract with JGR affiliate Furniture Row Racing for 2017.
