The Official NCAA Selection Show Thread (Monday May 27 NOON EST ESPN2 )

It's tough to compare the strength of the regions. Depth is 1 aspect of it, but if you're the regional host, does it matter how good the 3 seed is? Say you're Oklahoma St and you were unlucky in that you got an SEC team as a 3 seed... I mean - all that does it make it tougher on the 2 seed. All that really matters if you're the 1 seed is how good is the best other team in your region is, and to some extent hoping you avoided the pesky good 4 seed like '21 Wright State. I think East Carolina has the toughest road to get to the Supers, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Evansville or VCU. It's because they have who I believe is the scariest 2 seed in their region. Clemson, Virginia, Arizona, UNC, and Tennessee all have tough paths as well. Speaking of Arizona... hot take... I think they're going to be the 1 regional host that doesn't even win a game.

The only joke of a regional I see is Georgia's. What in the world?

I have said this numerous times, I will never bet on baseball. It’s the most unpredictable sport of the major sports, so if you like betting on the sport then by all means more power to you. We always say “how often does the best team really win the whole thing?” That question right there should tell you all you need to know. In the last 20 CWS, 4 of them have been mid majors so I don’t want to hear that it can’t be done. People want to talk all these metrics but at the end of the day if can’t even perform well within your own conference throughout the season you shouldn’t be in the tournament. So what are we going to do next year? Start letting 11 win SEC teams in because Texas and Oklahoma are joining. The whole thing is a joke.
I bet 3 MLB games every night. Place my bets largely based on the pitcher. I don't make a lot but I don't lose alot either. Makes a routine Tuesday night interesting.

Gators will win the Stillwater regional.
WV takes Tucson regional.

Already setting making sure the fix is in. Can’t have the number 1 pick miss Omaha. Oh the travesty.
Condon plays for Georgia.
Cag plays for Florida.
Bazzana plays for Oregon State.
Montgomery plays for A&M.

Not sure what your comment has to do with Wake Forest..

I project some mayhem in 2024.

I think Tennessee will sweep the region
I think East Carolina will have less problems winning their region than expected.
ECU will have trouble with a road Super regional appearance
TENNESSEE over ECU

I believe Oklahoma will win their region. Duke has been down this road before.
Florida State will too tough for everyone in Tallahassee. But that first game against Stetson may be their toughest test. Even if they lose that game, I think they take the region.
Oklahoma has been Jekyll & Hyde so it's a coin flip if they beat FSU in supers. I think Noles make Omaha.
FLORIDA STATE over Oklahoma

I think Arkansas's offense- or lack thereof, will cost them eventually. They will have trouble winning 3 games in region but even if they do, UVA or Miss State will get them in Supers. Arkansas won 3 close games in Fayetteville over MSU 3 weeks ago. I think UVA's offense will do well against both MSU and Arkansas- so I pick UVA. It is a good draw for UVA as I don't think their competition can score enough. UVA to College World Series but basically default.
VIRGINIA over Arkansas

I have zero faith in Arizona but I think they got the easiest region and will talk through. I believe UNC will sweep through Chapel Hill. LSU's recent run has been smoke and mirrors. UNC will sweep all the way to Omaha.
NORTH CAROLINA over Arizona

Kentucky doesn't do anything bad, bad that don't do anything all that well. The NCAA running the regional means the visiting teams will not be as annoyed with childish music and promotions. Indiana State would do well if they played UK first but they have to play Illinois. I think Kentucky has to play a "if-necessary" game but will win the region. The Oregon State region is fascinating. You can make a point that every team has a chance to win that region. My call? Beavers win it and will win in Lexington next week. Orange prevails again in Kentucky.

OREGON STATE over Kentucky

NC State got a good draw. SC is a one-man team right now offensively and Messina can't bat every inning. NC State wins. Georgia got an incredibly easy draw. If they don't sweep then they suck. I think UGA makes Omaha as that Raleigh Super Region will be a hoot to watch offensively.

GEORGIA over NC State

Clemson wins their region. Vanderbilt's cute SEC tourney run is not what they really. Tigers go undefeated as I think Vandy will have issue beating Coastal and may not even play Clemson. Oklahoma State. Why does everyone continue to wait for Florida to "flip the switch"? We thought they did with the UGA series win but really needed to do better in Hoover to build on it. They didn't. They will need to play 4 games in Stillwater to win the series and I don't see them winning 3 of 4. I also have no faith in Big10 teams. So Cowboys go to Clemson. Clemson back into Omaha because they may not even play an SEC team.

CLEMSON over Oklahoma State

UCSB does not have a real homefield advantage. They are really good but they could also lose to any of the three teams in their region. It's moot because none of them can beat Texas A&M. I'm going with San Diego to win the region and lose to Aggies in Super. I don't think the Aggies will even play the Longhorns. I believe A&M will manhandle their region and super and will go into Omaha undefeated.

TEXAS A&M over San Diego

I think due to tough draws, the ACC (4) will have more than SEC (3) in Omaha. Oregon State will be the last Pac10 team playing in college sports. However, 2 SEC teams (Tennessee and Texas A&M) will be in finals and both may be undefeated all the way to the finals. The ACC will crow about numbers going into tourney but will be largely gone after the first 5 days. The 2 left standing are the 2 most balanced teams offensively and pitching wise. That series will go three games.

Just a conflicting opinion here, but I don’t think Arizona has the easiest region, I think it’s actually the most difficult. Also think Kentucky and Clemson got a rough draw.

4 ACC teams in Omaha👀👀👀

Here is what I would like to see happen but never will.

NCAA selects the teams and seeds 1-16. Then a pool of 16 each.... 2/3/4 seeds.

Seeds 1 to 16 get to select one team from each of the the #2 and #4 pools for their regional in seeding order.

Then the #3 seeds get to select the regional they want to go to in some order (like RPI ranking).
