Why doesn't the Republican leadership just say "We don't want health care reform," instead of the "Step by Step" garbage?

yep. it almost makes you wish you could go through the TV and smack them for each stupid statement they make. it is just sad that our government is such a joke.

I find it fitting that half of them on this panel will not be in Congress after this next election. Harry Reid being one of them.

Its their last hoorah!!

not wanting obama's version of healthcare reform doesn't mean you don't want healthcare reform. obama himself hasn't seemed to have figured this out. this is like saying if you don't believe in eye for an eye than you are not anti crime.

obama needs to stop the absolutes. this "either do it 100% my way or you don't care about the people" stuff is complete garbage and will eventually cost him the presidency.

They wont say that but its true. I'm an independent and I dont want it either(that is, Obamas view of HC reform). I work in government and see the waste first hand.

The government doesnt care about your money, because you are forced to pay it through taxes. So they have no intentions of protecting your money. If someone believes that, then I feel for them.

Government has no business in healthcare. If they get a hold of it, then they will cut costs at the expense of your health. Without the money flowing into the healthcare industry, it will not be cost effective to continue research on certain diseases, medication. Our healthcare comes at a cost and we must all understand that. Nothing in this world is free

That's why I cringe and die inside a little when he starts talking about the idea of bringing everyone in. It's all smoke and mirrors because at the end of the day if they don't bend to what they want then it won't be good enough. For all intents and purposes this "new" bill is just what the senate passed which is still a steaming turd. I want reform, but not in any direction that gives the government more power over our current system. They have done enough damage already, along with everyone saddling up to the all you can eat buffet known as health insurance of today.

I started watching it about 5 minutes ago and heard Barry say don't criticize the existing bill, but tell me where you agree with it. How is that constructive? Apparently a bi-partisan bill is keep exactly what we got. Needless to day I'm no longer watching it.

Because that's not what they are saying.

Why does Obama keep bringing up red herring's like Acme insurance. It's absurd to claim anything below a 60% actuarial is bogus insurance.

He did get busted on the CBO stuff - premiums do go up because the government mandates the increase in coverage - the plan forces enrollees to pay more.

That sums it up. Focus on where we agree; criticism is not allowed.

He also gets to challenge any R statement but Rs don't get to challenge his nor does he challenge any D statements.

Finally, he made a bold faced lie when he said they've adopted every cost containment measure possible in this bill - the tort reform stuff is not in there eventhough he acknowledged tort reform would lower costs.

Not so much unbelievable that he lies as it is unbelievable the feigned indignance over people opposing his radical view or his cries about opposition playing politics.

His lying problem is now that he's so radical and lied so absurdly that he has weakened the bully pulpit that he should enjoy.

So far the Dems have agreed to consider adding "undercover patients" as a tactic to fight Medicare fraud.

Hooray for compromise!

I'm prepared to support any Congressional member (either side) that doesn't begin their talk with a story about "someone they know who got screwed by the system".

Then you'll be supporting no democrats, who have to fall back on the personal, emotional and whiny to support their programs. It's a part of the "small guy" lie they perpetuate.
