The Official Tennessee @ Arkansas Series Thread (4/14 8PM EST SEC NETWORK) (4/15 7PM EST SEC NET+) (4/16 3PM EST SEC NET+)

When do you accept that as fact? We’ve played exactly 60% of the season tonight and it’s the same ish week in and week out. At some point, you are what you are and there’s not something just waiting to turn on. We keep chalking it up to the competition; this is the league we play in so we have to beat this level of competition. Arkansas has a number by their name, the stats don’t support that ranking but they find ways to win in tight games; the very thing we’ve failed to do.

9th in slugging
7th in HR’s
12th in doubles
10th in total bases
10th in BA
10th in walks
10th in OBP
11th in hits
3rd most K’s
10th in steals

I've already told guys, I won't be concerned until we lose a series to a Miss. State team in a few weeks. I'm not going to get upset over losing to three top-five teams in the nation, especially with two of the series on the road in front of 10,000 fans (both fanbases who despise us with a passion). I mean, am I homer? ABSOLUTELY, but I also know the strength of this league and that over the last two years the National Champion in baseball started the year 0-8 in this conference. I'd rather it all come together in May and June than go 20-10 (SEC) and then fizzle out in a regional.

Interesting that you don’t think pitching is good. Likely deepest staff in college baseball.

It's like basketball and Rick Barnes. Great pitching is like great defense. It will keep you in EVERY game you play, but fans will moan and cry that the team isn't good because it's "not fun." Fans like to see runs like they like to see points scored in basketball. It's the only thing they really judge a team off of, when knowledgable fans understand you need great pitching for any shot in the post season.

Ummm, State started 2021 4-4 in the conference, and Ole Miss started 3-5. Why do you insist on lying?

We have the pitching to compete but our bats have yet to show they can be consistent. Plus our defense makes it really hard for our pitchers to keep runs off of the board. We have got to get better at fielding and hitting to make it far this year.

Are you saying State and OM started 0-8 this year? Cause neither did in their championship seasons. And their success last year (and really 2021) is irrelevant to the next years team. Baseball has more turnover, mashed together rosters and unknowns than any other sport. Lemonis inherited a solid core of guys that he’s not been able to duplicate himself.

Pardon me that was the stat for the record of the last two SEC teams who won titles.. Ole Miss started 6-13 in 2022 and won the title. I'll still take our odds any day of the week.
