I’m guessing there are only 5 players getting collective NIL money and most less than $15,000. Only one making decent money but not semi-pro money. Most, as I have said, are paying to play. I have said before so I will say it again. Mine will walk away owing $60-$70,000 above his scholarship to play for the University of Tennessee. Not complaining. It has been a wonderful ride and will continue to be. But to think and allude that they are all getting paid is a joke. The money at Tennessee is going to basketball and football.Players families should not be on this board and any chat board - neither should players for that matter. I’m sure the coaching staff and administration told them to avoid all social media.
I actually know a few current and past players and families.
It’s goes without saying that many, if not all these players, do wonderful things in the community, but that is separate and apart from their approach in the game and how they behave and how they compete in the game.
It’s two different things. These college athletes actually live in four or five different worlds:
1: public/community service;
2: going to school;
3: practice;
4: games;
5: the unseen.
And to add to the mix - many of these guys are semi professional athletes. College baseball teams should receive many more scholarships but that’s easily replaceable by NIL money abd I don’t believe that TN is scrimping on that for the baseball Vols since there are so many big $$$ boosters that are on the Vols baseball train.
It is a bullet train and will get right because I think we have a gem in Tony V.
