Of course the runs were unearned because of his error. But I agree.
Burns and Dolander are relying too much on their fastballs in the first inning until they can get their other pitches across.
And this league is good enough to tee off on even major league fast balls.
I may be mistaken but I think 10 of the 18 runs scored by LSU were unearned. And the double they gave Crews yesterday IMO was an error. I know it was hit hard BUT a D1 third basemen must make that play. I really think this team will mature and develop as the season goes on. Just too much talent.

I used to work downtown and one of my favorite lunch spots (pre-covid) was Jig & Reel.
This is a phenomenal Scottish pub with one of the largest selections of scotch - and other whiskey's in the world.

I made the mistake of going in there for the first day of the Big Ears Festival for lunch about 6-8 years ago and it was beyond belief.
the act was the middle aged duo with long hair and bad guitar playing and I swear to god their first song was 3-4 minutes of screaming and yelling. (I was sitting in the bar and could not see them) and they were done the audience was snapping their fingers and waving their hands- I guess because clapping bothers many people (like yelling and screaming didn't)

Several "personages" came up to bar asking the kilted bartender about wine selection and openly complaining there was no selection.

The bartender already had spoken to Mr. Boyd and confirmed this would be the last year the Jig & Reel would participate in this freak show.

I do not share your sentiments regarding the act. Big Ears is all about avant guard, weirdness mixed with a few acts I actually know or wanna hear and the whole theme is exploring. But yeah, forgot it was going on, parking as usual and my only beef…Knoxville has all manner of Coffee, right? If yer on Jackson Ave. you can walk to em.

Don’t walk into a bbq joint at 11AM and ask for coffee. From there you can walk to Pete’s and get coffee, a plethora of places for Bloody Mary’s.

But then to order the wrong thing and expect them to toss it and make it right? To their credit, they did toss it and make it right.

I know the Gal that runs the Jig, if ya had a bad time there, she feels worse than you do.

the color commentator for aTm cracks me up.
You know, A&M can come back from this 4 run deficit. Just string some hits together (against the 3rd best team in country)

It's now 8-2

And my White Sox have score 3 in the 6th and still have bases loaded with no outs. Now 1 out. Lead Stros 3-0

Beam gave up 6 runs in his start yesterday and only one of them was earned. He actually has the best numbers out of the weekend starters. Burns’ ERA is pushing 5.00 which is very shocking. Teams have definitely done their homework on our pitchers.
behind in the count too much along with too many home run balls is the problem there

Is it a down year for pitching in the league? I follow Florida obviously, but seeing the numbers Vandy, SC, etc., are putting up, it clearly appears to be an offensive year this year.

Small sample size but early on, I agree, LSU seems to have it all in order. You guys can swing it obviously, congrats on the win, our pitching will come around I think but Slater was impressive today in relief. I am a little surprised by the West…a little bit. but it’s still early.

How do you feel about yer fellas’ pitching?

Starters have potential, but are Forrest Gump like. You don't know what you are going to get. But, they've got "stuff".

Once you get to the bullpen, with the exception of a couple of guys, I choose to grab a thick bible, rosary beads, a box of lucky charms, a rabbit's foot, etc.

A lot of the time, it goes like it did today, shuffle through the deck until you find a guy who has it that day.

Now having said all that, like today, no game seems to be over. They've come back from 4-5 runs down several times this year.

Yep, on our side, lots of new faces trying to get acclimated to each other. I think it’s fair to say, we expected the pitching to be ahead of the hitting, so far…hasn’t really played out, but I think it will.

Would you say, you guys have a lot of experience, in terms of fielding? Did you guys have to replace a lot of guys this season?

It is a legit lineup, 1-9 and even guys who come off the bench can rake.

The numbers Tennessee had last year were ridiculous, so I don't know how these guys compare to what the Tennessee lineup did last year.

But, 1-6, is really disgusting. They've got 5 guys with an OBP over .450 and 7 total with an OBP over .400.

A lot of the same guys. Fabian is the main regular they lost.

We’ve had our share of blunders and head scratching moments. I guess the most accurate way to say it is…on paper we should be good. Expectations are understandably high, we just haven’t put it together yet, I guess. I do like where we are, but it seems like the staff is still trying to come up with the right combination.
