The Official Tennessee @ LSU Weekend Series Thread (Thurs. 3/30 8PM EST) ESPNU (Fri. 3/31 7PM EST) SEC Network (Sat. 4/1 2PM EST) SEC NET+

I’m confused about the “we didn’t win a single inning the entire game” statement. How does that work? I’ve been watching baseball 99 years and didn’t know that stat existed. Is it runs alone that counts? Is it strikeouts? Is it great defensive plays?
Lol to “win an inning”, you must score more runs than the other team, in that particular inning.

Not sure why that’s difficult to comprehend?..

believe Ole Miss was 22-17 or something similar a good ways in last year. It worked out for them. It’s a long season.
Yes it is, but Mookie makes a strong point. We just don't have the bats up and down the line up like last year. Our pitching is solid but not quite in the groove yet. We'll have a more "real" baseball season this year. Instead of run ruling opponents, we're going to be in games where the little things can and often do make a huge difference. Not saying we'd have won last night, but if Halvorsen makes that one play at first, who knows. Base running and defense have to get cleaned up. If we play clean games, we give ourselves a great chance in any ball game. We're into SEC play now so the refrain "it's a long season" isn't something I'd keep falling back on especially after being swept by Mizzou to start. Clean, consistent defense and base running. That's what I'm hoping to see.

Yeah that one was a little odd too. You could win 8 innings and still lose the game. This isn’t boxing or MMA 😂

Lmao what is wrong with our fanbase? How many post on this thread saying stuff like “we gave that game away” or “we gained confidence knowing we can beat them now” etc etc… like what am I missing? We didn’t win a single inning the entire game, not one, we never had a lead on them. Yet so many people think we gave the game away bc of 1 error in the 8th!?!? Like the game/lead was never ours to give away… Lsu had a couple miscues and bad plays, so why didn’t we win? Bc LSU actually capitalized whenever they had an opportunity; and we didn’t. Is that supposed to magically change tomorrow and Saturday? Call me skeptical

You are negatively skeptical. Team competed well against the ace of college baseball and likely would have gone into extra innings without the 2 critical errors in the 8th.

Are you serious Clark?
I guess. Their starter was dominant and ours struggled. I thought we were fortunate to be tied. Same sloppy play cost them in the end. You aren’t going to win many games without clutch hitting. Christian Scott looked like he didn’t even want to be out there.
@OldTimer this is the post I was referring to.

Agree with your comments We will NEVER have the bats like we did last year. Last year was a unicorn fueled by inflated COVID rosters, and fortunate draft eligible player timing

C’Mon you know @VolPack22 is better than that! 🍊😀👍👊😃🍊. Guess you thought he had been hacked? 😀. I do love that movie and the RV out front. “You serious, Clark.” Classic line from a classic movie.
Our 2021 team that went to the CWS had a .750 winning % in the regular season.

This year’s team currently has a .741 winning %

But yeah we have a bad baseball team 🤣

Our pitching did a better job of keeping LSU in check than any team has so far. As you said, if Halvorsen makes that play (or if Moore makes the throw to first in time without trying to tag the runner going to 2nd), the 3-run 8th doesn’t happen and we hold LSU to 2 runs going into the 9th. No one has held their hitting down like that…and that was on a night when Dollander didn’t have his best control.

This isn’t last year’s team but it can still be a very good one. We battled with the #1 team in what was probably the best environment in college baseball this season. New day today. We should have plenty of confidence from last night.

Scott took some good swings last night and got Tennessee’s only base hit RBI. That’s a ridiculous take by Pack.
Pack was actually referring to a poster that commented that Scott looked like he didn’t even want to “be there.” It was such an absurd comment that if you hadn’t followed the whole thread you might have missed it.

I can definitely see where there might be some confusion 🤣
