The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Levis was a good pick with the spot we got him in but the guy was turnover prone in college. I'm also underwhelmed by the lack of weapons acquired and the number of picks overall for a team with talent issues.

While I’m specifically mad about picking Levis, my overall response to drafting QB there would be the same even if it was Bryce Young…. We simply don’t have the supporting cast for any young QB to come up in…. Even next year we have little draft capital… I also believe we weren’t far from retooling the offense, albeit a young offense at that….

I think we missed a huge opportunity to really overhaul this offense with quality guys that can produce on day 1… i mean the most famous quote from Vrabel last year was “I don’t what else we would do — throw it 50 times? I mean, who the [expletive] would we throw it to?’’

Instead we wait until Day 3 to add to the receiving unit…
I would have rather drafted Mayer there at the second round, traded back up in the late 2nd or 3rd to get Mingo, Hyatt, Tillman…. From there the offense would have looked like this:

QB- Tannehill on expiring deal
RB- Henry / Haskins
TE1- Chig
TE2- Mayer
WR1- Burks
WR2- Mingo, Hyatt, or Tillman

With the above, you essentially roll into the 2024 offseason with your starting WR’s and TE’s still on rookie deals… from there Tannehill and Henry’s money rolls off the books and depending on draft position, we can spend on OL while drafting in a very deep QB class.

That’s looks a lot better than what we did where we roll into the season with 3 QB’s (Ran’s words), 4 RB’s, 7th rounder at WR2, and Whyle at TE2

He was overvalued....at 2. Not at 33.

I am willing to bet the guys who are most mad at this pretty much just watch the Titans and are bigger fans of CFB. Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert....all much better QB's at the pro level because their physical tools are much more useful at this level. You used a 2nd rd pick to get a guy who can spin it as well as anybody.

There is so much more that goes into being a good QB, but WL has the only things you can't learn.

Yup. Probably doesn’t help that we just happened to be the weird year where we actually played (and beat) most of the top quarterbacks in the draft.

Vrabel solved the question of to whom they would throw the football. By drafting Levis, the answer is now clear - to the opponent.

We are still not really set up to throw to wide receivers. So, no point having any for another year.

Have eight guys block and send out two in patterns. Throw to tight ends and running backs.

A mini version of 49ers until we get more blockers.

Some people listen to my scouting reports. Some people despise me lol.

In regards to Titans fans knowing what's good for them: I wouldn't put much stock in their opinions . They were screaming and booing with the Chris Johnson pick out of ECU. I tried to tell many people that was a good pick watch and see. I was correct.

WITH THAT SAID, this Will Levi's pick is their worst pick in franchise history.
Guy is no leader. He's not particularly natural out there either. He is a turnover waiting to happen.

Aren’t you the guy who said Jeremy banks was a first round talent, was as good as Al Wilson, and banks being undrafted was laughable? I’d consider maybe laying off on patting yourself on the back so hard 😂

He also thought Darnell Wright was going to run a 4.8

Call me crazy but assuming we keep Tannehill and if we can somehow find a competent WR2 I still think we can win the division.

I think we need a WR1. I have zero confidence in anyone on the roster being that.
Agreed, Burks has shown some flashes but I think his ceiling is as a top notch wr2. If you can get another receiver of similar caliber you can be productive by committee in the passing game..... But he needs more help.

We could, had we been a little more healthy least year down the stretch we would have won it last year.

And where do we find this magical WR2?….

While I agree with you it isn’t doom and gloom this season as we still have Tannehill and Henry, we severely missed this draft adding guys who could start on day 1 and have a much improved receiving unit than last year….

What sucks is Vrabel is a rock solid coach and we are still in that window where Henry is a top 3 back in the NFL at an abnormal age. Tannehill is still a serviceable QB and our defense is one of the best in the league… so it isn’t crazy to think that adding a couple skill position players who could contribute on Day 1 of the season would have us closer to an upward trajectory… no we are sorta in no man’s land where we don’t have a roster to compete with the upper half of the league but we also aren’t a roster only able to win 2-3 games either. Our defense will win us a handful of games alone.

Typical titans i guess.

Only if long haired Lawrence goes down with an injury. But, we are better than Indy and Houston.

I think we will be better than Indy and Houston for next five years. Not a fan of either of those two QB picks.

CJ dumber than dirt; AR only worries about AR.

Yes, wish they had picked best available WR in third round. But, if Burke can just stay healthy, we won't throw much to a second guy.

I really like Vrabel as a defensive coach but we have to be a more balanced team, especially going into the post Henry transition years. We've got to develop the offense, specifically the passing game.

We aren’t winning it this year unless the Jags slip and Lawrence regresses. After that the Texans will probably be more formidable. Don’t know about the Colts but I don’t see the division being the pushover it has been in the past.

Our defense is terrible at the two most important spots. Edge and corner. There’s a reason we are bottom 4-5 in the league in terms of Super Bowl odds
