The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

This team has been in an endless suck cycle forever.......lose games to get draft picks that you spend on absolute busts to win enough meaningless games to get worse draft picks which you repeat with more busts to lose games to get high pick which you will pick busts. I may never be a true fan of the pro level. Seems like your team is gonna tank when they cant get into the playoffs. How about just try to win every damn game you play so your fans dont lose interest.

2020: 11-5
2021: 12-5

WTF are you talking about?

There's no really good option at QB in this draft anyway, save Sanders, and that would be a disaster at most franchises. He has to get to the right spot.

Get a bridge QB and build the roster.
Some FA options: Darnold, Justin Fields, Daniel Jones, Flacco, Jameis, Cooper Rush, Dobbs,Zack Wilson, Trey Lance.

Darnold, Winston and Flacco are interesting to me. No on Dobbs or Fields.
Darnold is likely getting an extension/new contract in Minnesota after how this season is going and no future QB on that roster. He really doesn’t need to be on these kinds of lists.

Don’t want Darnold…$$$

Fields, Winston, or Mac Jones are who I personally would like to see for a year

Trade down in this draft to stockpile 2026 draft capital so we can maneuver into a position to get the QB in ‘26

The current QB situation makes me realize how much I took the few really good Tannehill years for granted. Came in as a backup and then solved our QB problem for a few years and then some.

Even the best-case scenario of tanking again in 2025 to pick high in 2026 is far from foolproof because historically, whichever QB we pick probably won't be that great. Franchise-wise it's almost a guarantee and NFL-wide it's also a total crapshoot with pretty poor odds.

I just don't think there's going to be much of an opportunity where we pick. I think the two QB's are already off the board and no one teams are excited enough about to give away the draft capital required to move up.

JMO though, in principle I agree, that's what we should do.........I just don't think it breaks our way........ Seems like a recurring issue for us. The guys we want/need are gone before we pick and no one wants to trade up.

Read another article that suggested Derek Carr as a one-or-two year bridge. Which sounds more appealing. Caveat, with him, you keep Rudolph or a Mac Jones-type because Carr will for sure get injured. Regarding Darnold, do we think Vikings keep him and J.J. McCarthy?

You must be a very new Titan fan if you think the current regime can be trusted to do exactly this when they failed miserably at the chance to do so just 2 drafts ago when they had a bridge QB on an expiring deal and needs for skill positions that they wanted trading up to draft a QB in name only.....

All while leading to the coach to get fired because the GM and Owner said he was playing an extinct brand of ball

To their credit, they did have a trade with AZ worked out in the event that Stroud fell to #3. Unfortunately, the Texans franchise was smart and drafted him at 2 instead.

They spent like drunk sailors instead of padding the coffers for a draft and offseason where they can go all in just like the Dolphins did with the tank for Tua.

They didn't have to max out the cap card to sabotage future free agency / draft periods.

You must be the burner account of Ran or Amy
You realize you have to spend in the NFL don't you? The NFL requires it.

The Titans spent a lot of money on players they can move from in 2 years. It's pretty smart actually.

They just drafted JJ McCarthy 10th overall, so they do have someone they think is their future QB. Now, personally, I am not a McCarthy fan and I think he's more of a game manager than anything, but certainly Minny thought well enough of him to take him 10th overall.

I think there is a good chance Minny brings Darnolds back, but I don't think it's as cut and dry as you say.

I highly doubt that to all of those things. Granted it all depends on who has the top 5 picks. I don’t see either as top 5
The giants and raiders are desperate for QBs and they pick in the top 5. They aren't going to pass on either one. Hitting on a QB in the draft is really all that matters in this league.
