The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

In two years you’ll be looking at needing a new contract. It’s up in 2028. Paying A+ money for a B qb was dumb on Jerry.

But Dak also has a no trade clause in his contract so all of this is likely moot.

So we could have him for 25, 26, 27, and 28?

You act like that’s short term or something.

And hes had plenty of A+ play. Idk where you guys get these weird narratives.

No trade clauses are up to the player

Seriously outside of Mahommes or Allen I don’t think you guys would be happy with anyone.

I'd be ok with Dak at Dallas. (I am a Cowboys fan). He's not a bad qb. But he's not a top 5 guy. He's not the guy to throw the team on his back, make plays, and carry them to a win. He's never done it. And that's ok. Not every qb will do that. Yet he is the highest paid qb in the NFL. And I don't know if you followed his negotiations last year but he said multiple times he wasn't about money or getting the biggest contract. He lost a lot of Dallas fans with those statements after seeing what his contract was.

Dak at a realistic contract gives you more money to improve other positions. Instead he counts 89 million against the cap in 2025. He reset the qb market and it isn't changing anytime soon. He was one of the last, if not the last qb, to sign a contract last year. Most of the quality qbs are tied up till 2028. Who's making that contract look good in the next 4 years?

That DW4 contract embodies the Factory of Sadness.

I would be happy with younger Dak, but at this point in his career I'm out. Especially considering his injuries and up and down play. There are cheaper options that make sense for longer term success. I think we can all agree Dak being on this team doesn't turn us into contenders........ Since it doesn't why should we tie up so much money on one player for a team with a roster full of holes?

If we were just a QB short of making a decent run...... Then by all means pull the trigger if he's the guy you think is him.

But that's not where the Titans are......... And Dak doesn't make sense for that reason alone.

You think Deion would sign off on his son sitting a year....... If I'm Deion I would. This league has churned and burned more highly touted prospects than his son.

Maybe sitting and learning the offense/how to be a pro is the way to go.
Who knows. People mock Deion as a clown, but the guy knows the game. Relatable to todays kids. Knows people in the industry.

But most importantly, he’s smart. I think he would be ok with him sitting. As long as it’s the right situation. He knows what it takes to make it as a QB……just.

Probably Jackson and maybe Stroud. Always hard to predict. Another young QB could have a break out season and franchises constantly renew too QBs before their contracts last season.

And what do you mean he can’t carry a team? He’s had multiple seasons with elite level stats. 2023 being the most recent. His 2019 season is 11th best in NFL history in terms of total passing yards and his 2021 season ranks 11th in NFL history in terms of TD passes in a season.

These narratives you guys create “he can’t carry a team” or “he can’t win the big name” are nonsense

Terrible move for Deion though. His biggest attribute is his appeal. I don’t think that appeal is as significant to a 30 year old veteran as it is an 18 year old high schooler.

Where are you finding these stats? His 2019 yardage of 4902 yards is 25th all time. And his 37 tds in 2021 is tied for 35th. And even if you want to rule out all the tied people and go strictly by total it's still 13th. He threw a lot of tds one year we didn't make the playoffs.

He's not a bad qb, but he's not a top 5 guy. His contract is out of whack and limits what Dallas can do for other positions.

Chat GPT let me down on that. It probably excluded the QBs who are on the list more than once.

I’m not sure what your obsession with top 5 is. But I stated previously that PFF had him 6th coming into the season. The 6th best QB in any given season is capable of top 5 play. But in no way do I believe you have to have a top 5 QB.

And you'll continue to say embarrassingly wrong things as a result, good for you

For the most part it’s pretty accurate. I bet if you count QBs, he’s 11th. There’s no such thing as a perfect source. So for something that doesn’t matter, like where a QB is on an all time list, it’ll suffice

You don't, I agree with you on this. But I think Dak would need a great team around him to do it, which is harder with a 60M salary and like 1.5 good linemen on our team

Isn’t the total cap 275 million? I’ve got a feeling we can fill a talented roster with 215 million.

He would be the best QB to ever play for the Titans.

This board is out of their mind when it comes to their evaluation of QBs. People were claiming Lamar Jackson was trash on here last year. Outside of 2 guys, maybe 3, they all pretend everyone else is horrible

He would have the best career numbers of a QB to play for the Titans, maybe, but he's not coming in and playing at an MVP level like McNair did. I don't think he sucks, he is a top 8-10 QB, but I also don't think his 2023 season was something he's going to repeat.

Most QBs that make the Super Bowl are either on rookie deals, where you can spend a ton around them, or are playing at an MVP level. I'm sure we could build a talented roster, but not sure it would be a top 3-5 one like IMO it would need to be

His last full season (2023) he played at an MVP level. He could do that again

You think Dak is better than Air McNair?

As stated, I really haven't watched much cowboy ball.

Steve was quite clutch in crunch time.
