The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Really good video. I expect Mariotta and Henry to flourish in this offense.

Would you mind elaborating?

I would love to. So a Zone scheme

O O X O O Y
.......Q

.......R

So outside Zone is designed to hit through the C gap with the running back aiming at the TE Butt... all Linemen (depending) on the position of the D-Line will take their right or left foot depending on where the RB is headed and step at a lateral angle and move so now the bigger defensive line has to move as well (trying to catch a RB) so while the D Line is running the RB is reading the defensive linemen next to the center and says if he goes out, I go in...
it is made for Henry because he is one cut back and this is a one cut scheme... Alex Gibbs (the perfecter of this scheme) said, “ I don’t want a back that dances I want it to be easy for him to see, so he can hit the hole and run... no negative plays.”

So Henry is a one cut back in a one cut system that usually produces ( at the least 1 1,000 yard rusher) and with having no negative plays it helps Mariota not have to do too much with his arm... it’s the perfect storm... sorry I know that was a lot.

Also hot take : Henry I’ll at least have 1200 yards this season on the ground.

The thing about Henry is he hasn't proven ha can get the hard yards. He has to bounce everything outside. Yes I like that the offense will be schemed that way. It's a good thing but the opponents will know when it goes outside because that's all Henry is capable of

That’s where the inside zone comes in and the counter off of it... same blocking assignments looks the same but runs the opposite way.

What makes him so “bad” in the hashes is the scheme he was running a gap scheme that got him ate up which stopped his moment because of play structure... it was stupid in my opinion to have a back like that in that position...

Very impressive summarization. Sounds like a good fit for Henry

It also didn't help that the Titans' interior line couldn't do a thing last year. While I think the change in scheme will help, Kline and Spain simply must play better, or they need to get benched (particularly Spain).

I get it. Aside from a generally poor on-field performance over the past decade, the Titans organization has done an abysmal job of reaching out to the community at-large and their fans in particular. Nashville fans will commit to their teams if the teams give a damn; see the Preds. It's not like hockey is deeply ingrained in Southern culture. If a football team can't drum up a decent fraction of the local support that a hockey team enjoys, then the blame is solely on the team and not the fans.

The good news is that the Titans seem to have woken up when it comes to reaching their fans. Couple it with a decent win-loss record and I'll bet the Titans aren't at the bottom of this list in 5 years.

To me it seemed like for most of the past decade, the Titans' organization just didn't seem to care that much about on-field or off-field things. While I doubt it was really true, that was still the perception. They were spoiled by the first decade of the team being here, where they started out winning and had the fans still backing them up, and they took all that for granted.

Winning cures all (mostly) and this year they need to take the next step.

I think people are sleeping on Dion Lewis a little too. That guy is one of the quickest players I've seen in space, but he has some deceptive power as well.

The Preds are enjoying unrivaled support because they're actually good, just like Titans did in the early 2000's if you remember. There was actually a time in which Adelphia Coliseum was considered one of the loudest stadiums in the league.

I love the Titans, probably even more so than the Vols, but Nashville is as bandwagon as it gets.

Certainly performance is the primary motivator for any fanbase. But that said, the Preds have done an immensely better job of reaching out to the community than the Titans. Working downtown, it is incredible to see the difference. The Preds make themselves available. They are visible members of the Nashville community.

Until the last couple of years, I've not been able to say the same for Titans. But, again, the Titans have been showing notable improvement in that area. But I think it took them getting shamed by the local hockey team to make it happen.

Nashville is growing and the owners seem to be making more of an effort to reach out to the community as of late. I don’t think fan support will be a problem in the coming years.

Also, is there any news on Lewan?
