So, I woke up yesterday with the feeling that the Titans were going to win the game even though I didn't think they could win all last week. Drove to Nashville, partook of the tailgating libations, sang some songs, and headed to our seats.
Felt like we were going to win the game after the opening kickoff. When Hasselbeck went down, I felt like we were going to win the game. Halftime comes and I felt like we were going to win the game. End of the 3rd, felt like we were going to win.
The Titans go up 10-9. Felt like we were going to win.
Titans go down 22-10. STILL felt like we were going to win. A lot of folks disagreed because they started to leave.
TD. 22-17. Felt like we were going to win.
Stopped at 4th and 1. I still felt like we were going to win, as crazy as it sounds. More people disagreed and started to leave. Had to convince the people we were with that we shouldn't leave, either. I told them, "I promise you we'll be rewarded for staying."
Karl Klug (who played like a man yesterday) makes that sack and forces the Saints to punt. I REALLY felt like we were going to win. Looked at my wife and said, "What did I just tell you?"
Nate catches that big ball to get to the 5 with :07. I KNEW we were going to win.
Then Locker was sacked and we didn't win. But I'll tell you what. I still feel like we were rewarded for staying and that's a great feeling to have. I feel like the future is so bright with Locker, McCarthy, Klug, Casey, DWill, Britt, Nate, McCourty (who didn't play), Vern, etc, etc....MUNCHAK as the HC... I think this team's future is incredibly bright.
And the team can still make the playoffs. No one really thought last week that the Titans were going to go 4-0 in December. My scenario for getting the 6th seed is still intact. The Jets will at least one. We win out, we win the tiebreaker with them. The Bengals lose to Baltimore in the final week. Boom. 6th seed.
The fun thing about the last three games is that Locker most likely gets at least one start this week and possibly more with Hasselbeck's injury. Hasselbeck seems like an older Honda Civic and Locker is a new Corvette. I appreciate Hasselbeck's contribution and we wouldn't be here without him. He's the perfect teammate in the locker room, has brought steady leadership and a winner's attitude to the team, and the team really feels like a team now. Not this VY BS. Not the me stuff. And say what you want about CJ, but I think he's a great teammate. I think he puts it on the line for the guys on the team. His awareness of Nate's injury after the big catch, dragging him to the sideline, then sprinting back to the huddle....That's a teammate.
Great day yesterday even though we lost. Lot of fun. Zero voice left. Funny, zero regrets, either. Would've liked a W, but I think the team grew together. Let's hope we're not devastated by the injuries. Ayers concerns me a bit.
