The Official Tennessee vs. #15 Kentucky Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

Best case scenario is 17 wins and NIT.

Acceptable considering what we lost from last year. We just don't have the shooters needed to win consistently. Hopefully the young guys will improve with their play this season.

Still don't know how a 7 footer can not dunk the ball. We have a 7 footer that is a bad rebounder and non shooter. Hope he can improve for next year.

I give a post like this one, which is still critiquing the team, much more credit than “he is garbage”, “we suck”! Everyone watches the games(or listens), everyone sees the same thing. This program, which was traveling at 100 mph, hit a speed bump with 2 guys going pro early, that were going to be the focal point of this years team. If you didn’t think this season had potential to be tough, then you don’t know much about sports. Factor in the loss of Turner and the season rolled over that speed bump and right into a 15 mph school zone! Bowden just isn’t the leader or game changer we hoped he would be, so what? He is a very good piece of the puzzle when the other, right pieces are around him. Fulky, Pons and Vescovi, continue to improve and will be integral parts of next years team. James is still a huge question mark. No matter the outcome, we are trying to build a program and continuing to support our players and this program will go a long way to helping with the build.
GBO!!
Great post. I believe some or most truly dont understand how hard this game is at this level of play. Yes Rick did assemble this Roster that is short on individual talent. But he also has one assembled next year that will compete for SEC championship and he has us swimming with the sharks for 21 class.

UK commits 16 fouls in the first half, and ends the game with 21. I'm sure that was due solely to halftime adjustments. I do believe that, although the adjustments were made to the refs. I imagine they got "the call" from someone at the office.
Also interesting how the refs worked to shut down Fulky in the 2nd half.

And 3 points off the bench
Brutal. For the young guys to be so aggressive at times on defense, it’s super frustrating watching them be so passive on the offensive side. Kentucky does deserve credit cause they’re a good defensive team this year. But 3pts from the bench just isn’t gonna cut it

This team was never making it to the dance. An NIT bid, if we are lucky. They are not one of the 68 best teams, in the country. But, who really expected them to be?

TV Teddy and/or Nance?

Kentucky played better . Shot better .. they are quicker in back court .. they are difficult to stay in front of period . And they made tough shots when the shot clock was expiring.. they just played better .. we dont have a physical player inside and our guards are slow .. bottom line .. Ky is better and played better .

Honestly, if Grant and Bone come back our roster is built to win big this year, especially with a healthy Turner and healthy James. Maybe Barnes should’ve seen Grant leaving early given Grant was SEC POY his So season but who in the world would think Bone would’ve left early after his So year (heading into Jr season)? I didn’t even think he would after his Jr year but I wasn’t looking at other potential PGs coming out last year vs this year and I’m sure he was.

Yes Rick was blind sided on Bone.

Thanks. Bone was supposed to be the starting PG, then Turner was going to be the backup but he is hurt so we turned to James and now he is hurt. That’s a lot of turnover at the most important position on the floor, no pun intended.

It's just not realistic to expect the Vols to overcome that kind of talent disparity. UK is loaded; they should be better than they are (as usual, Cal does the least with the most.) Add JJJ's injury (he would have helped us a LOT today) and there's really no chance. But: the team played hard. The effort is there. The talent is not.

You’re giving KY way too much credit. Sure they’ll make it to the dance. But they’re not good enough to get 2 wins in it.
