The Official Tennessee vs. #15 Kentucky Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

Defense. He shuts down Maxey. He’s the best perimeter defender on the team.
Maxey shot 6/13 and had 15 points. He is a real good defender usually but didn’t defend well today and his defensive contributions are often negated by his offensive ineptitude. When he’s doing neither well it really hurts, evidenced today by his team worst +\- today, -16. Can’t have that from our one senior leader still standing

Bowden turned the ball over about 4 straight times around the 7:00-5:00 marks. He certainly has a large part in this loss. Boy we are hard to watch... just 0 sustained offensive threats.

JJJ was injured in his last two games with the groin injury, probably. Do you think he’s generally less effective than Plavsic, Pember, or Gaines? Or heck, Johnson?
Are you saying Tn wins this game if JJJ was playing ?

Smh...the point is he is a role player who went off today. That has happened to us way too much over the years.

I’m not trying to be an ass, but UK just doesn’t play no names. It’s like Jalen Johnson hitting 3 threes in the Mizzou game. It happens. Sometimes your defense focuses on a couple of guys, and another guy steps up.

Considering our subpar team shot so poorly and almost won....I even think less than I already did about Kentucky. They are straight up horrible considering all the talent they continually get. Their fanbase should be ashamed...they cheat and still suck

Go look at his numbers in conference play. Our “star” player is very much the reason.
He was 5-12 for 16 points and 9 rebounds today. Sure, he could’ve made a few more plays but hardly the reason we lost.

3 Points from our bench today... Outside of our top 4 guys (5 w/JJJ) we get absolutely nothing game in and game out.

We still have our hardest games ahead of us. But it doesn’t seem like our trajectory is reversing course. Losing JJJ during this stretch really hurts. This is the point we desperately need to start turning it around

Bowden isn’t the reason this team has been losing. Severe lack of depth and any contribution from the bench is what’s killing us.

If Bowden was shooting better and more consistent, we could have won another game or two. But the bench doesn’t help either.
