The Official Tennessee vs. #15 Kentucky Game Thread, 1:00 PM ET, CBS

He was 5-12 for 16 points and 9 rebounds today. Sure, he could’ve made a few more plays but hardly the reason we lost.

3 Points from our bench today... Outside of our top 4 guys (5 w/JJJ) we get absolutely nothing game in and game out.

What about the other games? And he has to knock down wide open 3s. Just has to. He gets too many looks and misses most.

Barnes and his players paying for complaint re referee bump to SEC. referees are a tight group. That coupled w SEC and $$$ for TV and the NCAA this sport is getting as bad as NBA in the SEC

I’m not trying to be an ass, but UK just doesn’t play no names. It’s like Jalen Johnson hitting 3 threes in the Mizzou game. It happens. Sometimes your defense focuses on a couple of guys, and another guy steps up.

I agree with that. Just seems like we've been the victim of a lot of these performances in basketball and football

This team lacks talent and basketball IQ, it is what it is, but the only person to blame is Barnes lack of recruiting in 2017 and 2018. But they had their chances today......

We have 3 top 50 KenPom wins. If we win 18 games, we have a shot.

Still have games with Auburn, UK, Florida , 2 with Arky, and at an improving USC.

At best, we go 2 -4 against that group.

I hope you're right, but it seems almost impossible

Considering our subpar team shot so poorly and almost won....I even think less than I already did about Kentucky. They are straight up horrible considering all the talent they continually get. Their fanbase should be ashamed...they cheat and still suck
I agree. I wished Tennessee would cheat and suck like Kentucky. Instead Tennessee plays by the rules and gets the sh** beat out of them.

Have watched Cal while he was in Memphis and at UK and how he got the job “done”. Bottom line is he’s no different than Self, Wade and Miller. He’s just better at the game and not getting caught on tape. Brilliant as the puppet master while his surrogates do the dirty work. Two Final Fours vacated while head coach and just knew nothing about anything. Just a big mystery how all of that happened at UMass and Memphis. A genius I tell you!

I’m not saying if we will win or not. Just saying that we get to 18 wins and 10 conference wins, we have a shot. Our OOC schedule should be rewarded. We have more losses because of a tough schedule.

If the NCAA was serious about its rules he would not be allowed to coach.

Are you saying Tn wins this game if JJJ was playing ?
There were some really bad stretches there, especially in the first half. The Gaines 2 missed FTs into 2 TOs probably wouldn’t have happened. Plavsic probably wouldn’t have been in the game as much to give up like 8 points by himself. We had it down to 5 late.

It would have been closer, I think. Probably a 3 point loss or so instead of 13 considering the “fouls” in the last 5 minutes.

Didn’t even notice JJJ missing- has been a non factor in most games anyways. This season is just a warmup for next guys.
Non factor is better than negative factor like Plavsic this game. We could have used his defense.

And I don’t know how you didn’t notice, he’s like our PG half the time...how can you not notice the guy with the ball?

In a game like this its individual pieces that need to make plays. They have 5 5 stars on floor making plays. We could have had few more looks go In but we didn't play bad Ky played well .

Bowden isn’t the reason this team has been losing. Severe lack of depth and any contribution from the bench is what’s killing us.

Bowden just didn't stop missing shots yesterday or last week. He has been in a drought for over 30+ days and other than layups which several have been missed you would think that CRB + Staff would figure out a way to get him going.

He is drawing a lot of attention from other teams and they are shutting him down but we have seen him hit the wide-open 3s and curl shots at the foul line.

Uros is like a tall tree and needs a year.

At this point hoping for the NIT. The NCAA seems like a very uphill climb.

The season was to be expected we lost a lot of point production, Chemistry, and most importantly LEADERSHIP.

We played like dog sh*t but I’m not scared of Kentucky going forward. They continually underperform... we have a lot of talent coming in soon, and hopefully next year is much better.

We have almost zero movement on offense, nobody is working to get open.

I give a post like this one, which is still critiquing the team, much more credit than “he is garbage”, “we suck”! Everyone watches the games(or listens), everyone sees the same thing. This program, which was traveling at 100 mph, hit a speed bump with 2 guys going pro early, that were going to be the focal point of this years team. If you didn’t think this season had potential to be tough, then you don’t know much about sports. Factor in the loss of Turner and the season rolled over that speed bump and right into a 15 mph school zone! Bowden just isn’t the leader or game changer we hoped he would be, so what? He is a very good piece of the puzzle when the other, right pieces are around him. Fulky, Pons and Vescovi, continue to improve and will be integral parts of next years team. James is still a huge question mark. No matter the outcome, we are trying to build a program and continuing to support our players and this program will go a long way to helping with the build.
GBO!!
