We definitely took the Pearl Era for granted. It made me become accustomed to Tennessee just automatically making the tournament every year, and the entire year we were more focussed on trying to get a top seeding. Right now, I just wanna make the damn tournament. I couldn't even care if we're 14 seed, I just wanna see us play in the tourney. These are some bad times.

The bad times are fostered by yours truly.

Bottom line... Martin is in over his head coaching here. This will be a repeat of the first two years- close but not enough. His teams lack fundamentals, play soft and make too many mistakes. Early losses to UTEP add up, good to decent SEC league play won't be enough (in an awful SEC), and he really, really sucks as a game manager. I hope Hart has a good list of HC replacements lined up, as I think he'll need it by year's end.

Toward what? I don't see too many people defending Martin these days and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Pearl will not coach at UT again.

I've said several times that you are one of the best posters here. That being said, I'm a proud alum of the University of Tennessee. What Bruce did to help my university will never be forgotten. People say "he ruined our basketball program". Yeah, he built a house and then tore half of it down. But he left half of it standing, and because of that, this program CAN BE successful. Bruce has character flaws, yeah, but he's an excellent coach. We are humans, we lie all the time. He was punished. He served his time. I'd give Bruce a second chance to rebuild the other half of the house before I'd give another Cuonzo a chance to live in what was left standing.

He was a perfect motivator for the big games. He Something I don't think Coach Martin is. There were lesser games that he seemed to have trouble getting his guys motivated to play.

That game ranks right at the top of my student experience. I almost didn't go. I'm sure glad I did.

You can't promise the NCAA you were not having a party for recruits and then totally blow it with the NCAA. He doesn't deserve to coach at UT.

Amen... These glass house folks need not post. He made a mistake. I'm glad someone gave me a second chance! If our Lord can forgive all I have done... Surely lying to the corrupt NCAA can be forgiven! BRING BACK BRUCE! This team is way too talented to be this bad!

I agree Bruce isn't coming back but he's a much better coach. Martin isn't qualified to carry his jock strap.
