The Official Thread of Jayvaughn Pinkston

From ESPN

There has been a ton of mystery surround the recruitment of JayVaughn Pinkston. The forward had narrowed his college list to Tennessee, Villanova, Seton Hall, St. John's, and Marquette, with Tennessee and 'Nova in the lead. Yesterday, the NY Daily News confirmed with its sources that Pinkston would choose to attend UT in the fall.

Although Pinkston was set to make his commitment public today, Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.net has confirmed that the forward would wait until the late signing period. "JayVaughn and his family have decided that he will not make his college choice decision today. He's not 100 percent sure where he wants to go to school so rather than make a rush decision he'll just wait until the spring," said Kimani Young, Pinkston's travel coach.

Similarly to Lance Stephenson holding off his college decision last year to see where Xavier Henry would commit, Pinkston could be holding off because he wants to see where Tobias Harris will go. Tennessee is also a finalist on Harris' list and Zagoria spoke with a DI assistant who recruited either Pinkston or Harris who said, "There's no way they're going to the same school." Harris will announce his decision tomorrow.

This has everything to do with Harris's decision.

Pinkston isn't sure he wants to try and beat Harris out.

The fact that Harris was at the game yesterday gave Pinkston cold feet...

Pearl has got some serious sucking up to do.

I just don't see why Pinkston would be scared off by Harris. There is plenty of room in our frontcourt for both of these guys.

Pinkston got cold feet when he found out Harris was at UT last night.

I don't think he wants to go to the same school, but that is just my opinion.

No other reason to hold off than to see where Harris signs.

UT does not get both in this situation.

This is seriously starting to make me mad. If we do not land any of these recruits we are in trouble. Who do we have left for big men?

I'm not doubting your opinion, but that's just stupid on his part and honestly if he's scared of the competition, do we really want him?

No idea. He's a HS senior and that's just part of the deal. My main concern is Kimani Young pulling strings here.

The kid had already made up his mind, so obviously Young got his nose in it. Pinkston has been ready to commit to Tenn for a while, so I doubt he just independently had a sudden change of heart in less than 24 hours. That's what women do.

Yea we definitely wouldn't want someone who is "afraid of competition". Just like all the schools who didn't want Lance Stephenson because he waited to see where Xavier Henry went. Or like Kansas not wanting Selby anymore because he is waiting on Brandon Knight.
