The Official UNC @ #1 Tennessee CWS Game 2 Thread (Sun. June 16) (7PM EST) (ESPN2)

.... and we get 2 days of rest now. You have to feel good about our chances on Wednesday, even if it's a Florida State rematch. I'm actually starting to feel good about our chances of winning the whole darn thing.

So am I greatly because Tennessee is a team that continues to find different ways to win, also the home runs continue to be reliable in Omaha.

Two full days of rest and playing at night and not in the heat of the day. I think those factors are huge and will pay big dividends down the road.

STAT OF THE GAME: Tears' three-run blast was his 20th of the season, making him the fourth UT player this year to reach the 20-homer mark. Tennessee is just the second team in NCAA Division I history to have four players with 20 or more home runs in the same season, joining Alabama, who did so in 1997.

The Lewisburg, Tennessee, native went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and an RBI double. Tears' four RBIs tied his career high and marked the first four-RBI outing from a UT player in the MCWS since Jeff Christensen accomplished the feat on June 12, 2001, in a 10-2 win over Southern Cal.

Tears' four bagger opened the scoring after three scoreless innings from both teams to start the game while his RBI double capped the scoring in the eighth inning. The redshirt sophomore is now 4-of-9 with two home runs, a triple, a double and six RBIs through the Vols' first two games in Omaha.

Fantastic win last night, and so great to win a game primarily with pitching and defense, with timely hitting and the ability to manufacture runs. It shows that this group can win any type of game that develops, which bodes well for Wednesday and beyond.

This team just has a different look and feel than any of the last 3-4 years, like the entire program has grown up and matured right before our eyes, and that includes Tony's calm and confident steering of the ship. It's hard to imagine them not finishing the job and bringing home the trophy. Go Vols!!!!

Anyone else have a shot to get to 20?

Do we hope that NC state somehow gets all the way out of the losers bracket but if not a banged up TAM comes out of that side ?

Personally at this point I think I would prefer UNC out of our bracket and NC State out of the other but realistically it will come down to A&M & Kensucky and A&M would provide the path of least resistance. I’m not giving UF a shot here but I could be wrong .
Prefer NC State, but likely get aTm.
