The Official Washington Nationals Thread

He's just good enough to where his best stuff doesn't have to be there and it doesn't matter

Went over 100 pitches, too. He didn't even "pitch well" and still had that start.

Whenever we can win with Mark Derosa and Xavier Nady in the outfield, ya know it's good.

I'm not totally sure. If we can keep our heads above water next three series... Reds Astros Marlins... it'll be a great sign. We don't have an off day until the 23rd.

Did you see the strike zone he was getting last night, though? It was borderline ridiculous. He's unhittable if he's getting that zone.

The only questionable calls were the two to Bay, after which Bay got tossed.

I didn't watch the game, so I can only go off the highlights shown on SC. But I think they showed 4 different pitches that were all well off the plate. That one to Bay was in the other batters box. I would have gotten tossed, too. That was God awful! Shades of Eric Gregg 1997 NLCS.

Bay had to get tossed to keep his dignity there. Those calls were awful. I don't remember the others.

A 90 mph change up that breaks 12 inches away from a left handed hitter... yeah, that's not on the umpire.

Even just listening to the radio, though, the nationals announcers seemed to be very... grateful? and surprised at the strike zone Strasburg was getting.

Zimmerman plunked in 10th, later scores on wild pitch to win it 3-2.

Gio Gonzalez: 7 IP, 2 h, 0 bb, 7 k
Strong, my man. Strong.

Strasburg on the mound tonight to begin a 4 game series against the Astros. Do work, Strassypoo

Good win tonight. Strasburg 1 pitch away from giving up no runs, still good to get the win with some timely hits. Need to sweep the 'Stros
