The Pembroke Postgame Report: Nothing But Pride Edition.

This is nit picking, but I am curious...Why didn't Bobby or Melvin get the shot at the end? Remember those UTsports videos where Bobby and Melvin made half court shots quite regularly?

A few thoughts:

I am much more excited about the OSU win than I am disappointed about the MSU loss. Not sure why - just how I feel.

For everyone killing themselves finding the play/reason why we lost by one, there are lots of better reasons why we weren't further behind.

When you get to the elite eight everyone is really good. Flukes don't win 3 tournament games in a row. We earned it.

Man, stop with the vitriol. You can't pin this loss on one player. It's a team loss. Hopson just happened to be in the spotlight, but even another free throw wouldn't have won it. They all had their chances, and they were just one point short. Still mighty proud though.

no vitriol. not pinning it on 1 player. there were other mistakes down the stretch as well. hopson has played the way he played today for about 2 years now... save 4 or 5 games. (having good games against unc-ash, CofC and E.Car doesn't count)

he hurts our team more than he helps.

I look forward to seeing what Goins can do next year. Hopefully he will show a Bobby Maze-esque improvement in free throws.

Melvin's continued improvement is one of the keys to next season, IMO. I think we are going to miss Bobby more than we realize. Many times, a good point guard isn't really noticed much until he's gone.

Man, it's painful watching those clips of Mich St cutting down the nets. The thought of getting to see Wayne up there. . . .dang. . . .

well by that argument, you're leaving out
17 points against KU, 17 points in a game against Bama that was a 7 point game, 14 points against Vandy, a 20 point game against UF, 15 points in the win over UK, and 14 against Miss St....among some others

that's the point where you're thinking too much about it and you need to move on to something else, k?

believe me, it helps :)

Like what, women's hoops? Oh, wait. . . .

like something other than college basketball

watch a baseball game; go for a walk; do some reading or play some games, whatever

just dont sit and sulk about something that didn't happen. It's not good for you, i know :good!:

Nobody will fall for this thread title. Surely to God nobody gets suckered in.

OK, come on in....hatevol crew. Sit down, blame a spell. Have a cigar and a single malt....Y'all come back now, heah? :)

How so? He is right. Funny thing is ... he is talking about Hopson and everyone knows it.

How could anyone not know it? That is all our less knowledgeable fans have been talking about. It is just stupid people trying to put blame on a tough fault game on our players. Sometimes you just lose a hard fought game and it's noone's fault.

Is S Hopson an E Turner clone---no, Is he one of our top five yes. . . Scotty played hard and I am proud of him, the other choice right now is S Pearl and I am proud of him too!

GO VOLS!!!

Are you trying to make people's day worse? I've abandoned the football forum so I don't have to think about that piece of trash and the destruction he's going to bring to Tennessee football. The last thing I want is a bunch of you sheep coming in here to remind me of what a terrible fall we've got coming.

Very well put hate. I agree 100 %. I have no interest in spring football for the very first time in my life. Like you I will save a lot of money over the next few years. I sent a letter to the AD telling them why their letters asking for $ have been return to sender. I'm done with them until we get a real coach.

I can't really fault too much in that game. Prince's 3rd foul was key. Looking back (which is easy to do), CBP probably should have left him in the game.

I agree we were on a roll with all the momentium. Then it turned South real quick when he went to the pine.

Tough game, but great season.

BTW, I haven't seen anyone, but I can't blame JP for that foul at the end. He tried to make a play from what seemed to be a sure-fire bucket.

Maybe I can add a little humor to a sad day. Last night at the Sports Bar in the Crowne Plaza, there was an obnoxiously drunk Ohio State fan giving a group of UT fans grief. Finally a UT guy stood up & said, "STFU, you're reppin' a plant seed.". Shut him down. Go Vols!!!

I absolutely love all the geniuses on here who point at records without actually delving into any circumstantial evidence.

Height (or shall I say "Hat") of ignorance.

But hey, a guy that led a program to its first bowl win in three decades, and went into Tiger Stadium, almost coming out victorious with a team with almost all underclassmen, must really really suck.

the guy he learned all he knows from sucks too, from what I hear.

If only he would give a press conference everyday...

Yeah, moral victories are awesome.
