I'm not sure what you mean. We've got blown out on the road multiple times before and then have good games at home. That's the way it goes for a mediocre team with a decent home court advantage.
This is the first time they've come home off a loss to play anyone really good. They come out with anything resembling the effort tonight, they'll disgrace themselves.

8. UT blew a real opportunity tonight. Forcing Florida into their third straight NIT would have helped keep a major competitor down.
a loss by Florida tonight wouldn't have killed their NCAA hopes. if they lost tonight they'd still very likely have been in as long as they beat Georgia on Saturday.

the SEC is getting at least 4 teams in the dance. Gators have played a harder schedule than any of the contenders in the West, their schedule strength is only going to up finishing with three ranked opponents in its last four games, they're undefeated against the West and South Carolina isn't going to get in over them.

by Florida winning tonight the Gators are just playing for a better seed.

Don't kid yourself. Your resume is trash. Until tonight, you had nothing that even remotely resembled a good win since November.

I know you feel enlightened now.

As for the game, Hat summed it up well. The UT backcourt was abused, and the frontcourt didn't fare much better. Parsons nor Tyus should never be allowed to do what they did tonight. After the first half, I thought Pearl might make a few adjustments in the defensive game (or at least the effort), but it never happened.

That was a huge loss for UT, and a huge win for UF.

damn it.

I agree with everything you said for the most part. It was ridiculous the way they quit, but I'm not sure this is a crushing loss. If they happen to upset UK, people will forget about this one really quick.

Perhaps huge is the wrong word. My intended point was that Tennessee was still not out of the race to catch Vandy and get that #2 seed in the east, getting a bye in the first round of the SEC tourney. That may not sound like much, but every little bit helps.

In the big picture, it might make a difference of 1 seed in the NCAA's. If you beat UK then that is totally reversed, but the dilemma mentioned above is still present. I just have a hunch that Vandy is not done losing games yet in the SEC.

That's exactly the way it's going to happen. Beating Kentucky still won't mean anything, this team doesn't have any positive postseason future.

I think the one thing about this team is you never know what to get. They're like a hormonal teenage girl and you never know what type of attitude you will get until they take the floor.

I agree. Hardwood, you'll learn here that we don't think about positioning ourselves for the SEC tourney because we already know beforehand that we never win it and apparently never will win it.

Unless we could secure a four round bye.

And all the fair weather fans will be praising pearl again. Some fans on vn are ridiculous. They talk trash about everyone on the team (even chism). But mostly about our coach, that has had 5 20+ wins in a season, finished better than 3rd in the Sec East every year, and led us to be #1 in the country for the first time in our schools history.

This just isn't a very good team. Very schizophrenic, no consistency. Sorry, but that speaks to the coaching staff.

Here comes the victim complex again. In a thread that contains no Pearl hating; the Pearlophiles come spewing this ridiculous garbage.

nope. we were projected as an 11 seed even before tonight's win.

no one in the SEC West has beaten any of the top four teams in the East and by your apparent definition of a good win neither of the top two tourney contenders in the SEC West (Mississippi State and Mississippi) had one the entire season and the only remaining opportunity for one is when Mississippi State visits Knoxville for its regular season finale.

barring the SEC only getting 3 teams in the dance (which isn't going to happen with three ranked teams and its current conference RPI), if Florida beats Georgia but loses to ranked Tennessee, Vandy and Kentucky teams, the only scenarios where they don't get in is if the SEC only gets four teams and one or more of the following happen:

1.) Mississipi State wins 3 of its last 4 including a win at Tennessee, who'll still surely be ranked unless they fall apart after beating Florida, for its first good win of the season
2.) South Carolina bounces back from losing 4 of their last 5 to beat both Kentucky in Lexington and Vanderbilt in Nashville
3.) An SEC West team, none of which currently have a single win against any of the top 4 teams in the East, manages to win the SEC tournament.

Florida was pretty much already in. Tonight they just solidified that the SEC would get at least 4 teams and they'd be one of them. Losing tonight would not have in any way locked them out.

How much longer are guys like you going to milk that 48 hour #1 ranking from 2 years ago?

Not only that, the usual suspects will then claim we're about to go on a tear to the Sweet 16.

Me, I'm not holding my breath that we beat Kentucky.

Lawvol said if we beat UK, then everyone will forget about the Florida game. And I said all the fair weather fans will be praising pearl again. Because that is what most people on this site are. Fair weathers.

Ok. Well, I haven't forgotten Tennessee has lost twice to Vanderbilt. I was confused in your post I quoted because it looked like you were on both sides of the fence.
