Lawvol said if we beat UK, then everyone will forget about the Florida game. And I said all the fair weather fans will be praising pearl again. Because that is what most people on this site are. Fair weathers.

I was actually referring to a NCAA tourney seeding perspective not the perspective of the fanbase.

I think the one thing about this team is you never know what to get. They're like a hormonal teenage girl and you never know what type of attitude you will get until they take the floor.
At best...

I have a hard time seeing the BasketVols making it past the first weekend of the tournament. Obviously depends on the matchups, seeding, etc., but right now, we get say, a four or five seed? Dunno about the Sweet 16.

#9 is what upset me the most. Florida was on life support and we had a chance to come in and pull the plug.

Once again the rest of the board is going crazy after one road loss where our best player (albeit retardedly) got in foul trouble. We had this game in the bag with 5 to go in the first, but just blew it away just like the home Vandy game. Blew that one after the JP technical foul. If we step on the gas in those 2 games were 22-5 (9-3) and looking good.

Not many teams would be in the position we are after losing their best player. We suck on the road and are pretty good at home. I don't know why the majority of the board has not figured that out yet. Everyone goes nuts when we blow out teams at home and than they say the sky is falling when we lose on the road.

This team is not that hard to figure out at home/road, but what will be remembered is how we play on neutral floors. So far we are 3-1 in on neutral floors with our 1 loss coming to Purdue in a nail biter. Weather the storm and pray for 2 out of the last 3 regular season games and then we will see what this team is all about.

Buckle up, were about to see how we will remember Tennessee Basketball 2009-2010.

Very disheartening with the effort or lack thereof.

Especially with Wayne. His attitude tonight could have been acceptable if it was a Freshman on his first road trip. This wasn't the first rodeo for Wayne.

Inexcusable.

I've surely been wrong before, but I just don't see Tennessee beating Kentucky.... I know this team has been very inconsistent but after last night's "performance" I just don't see it. They really seem to be ready for the season to end.....

This might be the most confusing of the Vol teams to watch, at least under CBP. You never quite know which team is going to show up until gametime, and even then, it's still a bit of a guessing game.

For a while I was really looking forward to come on here and eat my crow about Hopson because I thought he was finally going to take over a game when the team needed him too......

.....and then we quit even trying to do anything to get him open shots in the corner and in space for him to take a guy 1 on 1. I'm starting to maybe understand why it looks like he's said the hell with it. We do nothing to get him in a position to take a guy one on one.

When I had the thought that I was pretty sure I could drive to the lane on our guards last night, I became concerned.

When the 5 we had out there with 11 minutes left and down by 5 to 8 were Maze, McBee, Pearl, Woolridge and Williams I thought it was over and consequently that Pearl had lost his mind.....and then I remembered a similar set being out there in a clutch time before. I was just happy he used one of his timeouts this time to try to stop the carnage.

When Stepehen Pearl led 3 on 1 turrned into him slamming it off the backboard, I turned it off.

Looking for any Pearlite to give me some Kool-Aid so I can have hope this team can beat Kentucky or win a game in the NCAAs.

About the only thing worth taking anything positive from last night was seeing what Scotty and Cameron are worth. I've given up hope for any type of miracle run in the tourney when we lost to USCw, so don't look for anything positive this season. What you can do though is realize how Hopson and Tatum will go right along with Tobias Harris and Trae Golden's talents next season.

When I noticed the scoring pace towards the end of the half I didn't think it would end well for us. We shot well from 3 early, with a poor 3 point shooting team you know that won't last. Couple that with Chism's poor play, horrible team defense and a lack of effort on the boards, giving up at the end and you have wrapped up this teams performance last night.

Bruce better get Chism some time off to heal, if he doesn't I see little reason this team shouldn't be ripe to bounce out the tournament in the first round.

does anyone else just think this team is just poorly assembled? I mean no clear point guard, no true 2 guard, and one big man inside. after chism we have no inside presence. This team has been exposed imo and we need to add a ton of size and a true pg or else we can look forward to alot of 3rd place finishes in the sec east in the next few years..

I'd like to avoid UK's side of the SEC bracket. I didn't think that was possible, but we figured out a way to do it last night.

I noticed it everything works out like it looks it will, we will actually have an easier road to the championship game finishing 4th in the east.

I really don't know that they quit so much as certain players try to do too much when the game starts to slip. Usually this turns into terrible shot selection, zero offensive sets, and runouts by the opposing team. I think this is why we see teams pull out to ridiculous leads on us in a hurry.

I consider making no effort to defend and leaving 3-point shooters wide-open pretty much quiting.

Not sure if records are kept, but UT has to be approaching claiming the top spot on consecutive games fouling a three point shooter.

I see no added value out of Pearl playing. He is terrible. He got flat out abused four consecutive trips on the defensive end. One of which was the play that ended with Chism grimacing on the floor. Pearl could tell you intimate details about the court near the baseline - he stared at it for several seconds after dozens of blown assignments.

There is no excuse for having a roster of Pearl, Hall, Maze, McBee, and Prince on the floor together. That is just giving the other team points.

A couple I noticed:

At the 3 minute mark of the first half we were up 37-30. With THREE minutes to go in the game we were behind 70-50. If I'm correct, that is a 40-13 run.

Also, when we were up 37-30 we had two possessions with a chance to extend the lead. Obviously we didn't, which is where valueing possessions always comes in. This team doesn't, nor do they play with much basketball IQ (Chism's 4th foul when he tried to piggy back Tyus and ended up injuring himself).

Kentucky will play volleyball on the backboards on Saturday and it wouldn't surprise me for the game to get out of hand after halftime. If we go 1-1 next week that puts us at 21-9 going into the SEC tourney, which would mean 10 losses going into the NCAA tourney.

It's all about matchups. Any team in the NCAA tourney with a strong inside game will beat us by double digits. It has happened every time this year.

I agree. If his last name was different he wouldn't see the floor.

I would rather see Kenny Hall get those minutes if we are going to struggle anyway and let him develop/take his lumps now since he has way more upside than Pearl.

If you think Pearl should never see the floor . . . I'm just at a loss for words. Yes, he's very limitted from a talent standpoint. But the guy plays with incredible effort and intensity on the defensive end and creates some big time turnovers. Does he get completely burned at times . . . ok, but this doesn't mean he's worked his way out of the rotation. Especially considering our worsening size deficiency up front at the moment. And Chism's fourth foul could have completely gone the other way with tyus coming over underneath him like that and lowering his shoulder into him

I'm sure all the walk-ons would play with maximum effort if given the chance, but it still doesn't mean they should play 24 minutes.

You want to play him 5 minutes to get guys a quick rest fine, but when a guy his skill level plays 24 minutes you get exposed no matter how much effort he gives.

What has Pearl done to work his way into the rotation especially 24 minutes worth?

If playing time is just based on effort, I'm sure our starting 5 would be nothing but walk-ons.
