The Pembroke Postgame Report.

I'm not an espn conspiracy theorist, but i just pulled up espn's front page (cst 9:28) and there is not one mention of the vols. that's just wrong. a 6 over a 2 should have at least warranted a mention. Its not like there are a plethora of sports stories breaking right now.

IMO it is not about who loves UT and who hates UT, it's about ratings and markets and web site hits. All of the stories that you have seen this week were about everyone but the Vols because we were the 4th best story in the region, behind Izzo, Cinderella, and the national POTY.

Thus there are plenty of stories on ESPN laptops applauding OSU and congratulating them on their upcoming trip to the Final Four. It's just that they can't run them because we beat their butts. It will take some time to get the UT stories written.

Just wait - Keep winning we will become the Cinderella and start getting the pictures and the coverage.

Way to Go VOLS ! ! !

ive tried to read as many of your postgame reports as i can, Hat, and most seem bluntly honest, so it is very nice to read open praise for the job that Pearl and the Vols have done in the tourney.

The game seemed to change down the strech when JP was on Turner. He only got 1 real good look after that.

JP has been the glue the last month or so.

Just sitting here thinking about it....how I wish that Chris Lofton could have been a part of this team. Just the way he played, his attitude and character, his hustle...he would have fit in perfectly with this team. I see a lot of Lofton in Chism. Not in the insane 3's, but just in his determination and attitude.

Fantastic win tonight. I am so proud of my Vols, and I am so excited for us, no matter what happens here. Bring on Northern Iowa, bring on Michigan State. One game at a time....our 10 against their 5-6.

We've been blessed this year. Yes, the incident happened, but that was a blessing in disguise...Brian and Cameron are playing with a new lease on life. And honestly, I ALWAYS thought that Wayne Chism needed to be the star and leader of this team, not Tyler. I'm glad that he has stepped up and accepted that role. J.P. finally grew into the player he could be. Bobby Maze has been outstanding for our program, great player, great man. And thank goodness, we haven't had any really serious injuries this year. We've had a great year, and despite whatever happens from here on out, this has been a fantastic season. I for one, would like for it to continue.

1. It wouldn't have been right for this team to make history easily. That was a tremendous NCAA Tournament game.
2. Wayne Chism will play yet another game. That's an outstanding thing.
3. Without Brian Williams, Tennessee doesn't play Sunday. The tip on one end, followed by altering Evan Turner's shot on the other, carried the day.
4. Bobby Maze did exactly what a senior point guard has to do in March. It gets no more clutch than those two free throws.
5. Melvin Goins' pressure of Turner was key to wearing him down. It was like body shots in boxing.
6. Scotty Hopson's flurry after the awful charge call on him was great to see. Most of the night he was the 10th best player on the floor.
7. Taking a 10 second call at the end of a game is inexcusable. It would have been atrocious if that had cost UT a spot in the regional final Sunday.
8. Cam Tatum is finally becoming the player a number of us thought he could be. He kept the Vols breathing in the first half.
9. No excuses for failing to reach Indianapolis now. Tennessee is simply better than either possible Sunday opponent.
10. The fact I think there are a number of coaches who could get Tennessee to an Elite Eight is no longer relevant. The guy coaching here now has and he deserves all the kudos that come with that.

great post except that turner had 31 points (21 in the second half). seems like he was heating up while the rest of the team was getting worn down.

It has not changed that Pearl will be here for a few more years; should he choose. The difference tonight is that he has earned it.

With the happenings to our Football program, this FEELS GOOD!

Thank you to Coach Pearl and the BasketVols. :hi:

You said BasketVols, awesome!!!

I'll take that S'more, now... :)

He didn't get the ball over the rim on either of his last two legitimate attempts.

He's done exactly the things I excoriated him for failing to do. Why wouldn't I give him due credit? That's the difference between me and most of the Pearl camp. I give honest criticism, then credit when problems are rectified. They, on the other hand, blindly follow like a bunch of North Koreans.

From a true Slurper of the PTPer variety, I'll be the first to say that you have been on board and supportive throughout this WHOLE run. I think I even remember you advising those freaking out about the KY loss in the SEC Tourney to mellow and focus on the games to come.

To the rest of y'all: It would be nice if all this "gotcha" crap ceased after tonight and we all get over our buzzes and forget all the nonsense we've been spewing on this board for months now. All on the same team now; all have the same desires. The reasons people have been questioning the Vols have been answered with this win. Let's move on and get over it.

As predicted, Turner got his points, but he had to take 23 shots to get his 31 points.

They treated Turner like they did Devin Downey and South Carolina earlier this season. He was going to get his points, regardless, he's too good not too. The bigger thing though was to absolutely limit everyone else on the court so that they couldn't help significantly. They were trying to make it so that if OSU was going to win, it was going to have to be almost absolutely and almost entirely on Turner's shoulders alone...and that probably wore him down a bit as well.

(again though, limiting the rest of the team like we did when playing Downey and the gamecocks)

Imagine if we had shot as well as we can behind the arc...scotty no show on offense for most part again, but a huge key to the win was him shutting down diebold

Prince was incredible, but Chism made the difference in the game when Tennessee was down by five or six points and the game was close to getting away. He made two or three baskets in a row and pulled down a couple of big rebounds iirc. He had the look of sheer determination on his face.
