The PHOTOGRAPHY Thread

i've changed my position on this. I'm shooting with 8gb cards now that i'm shooting full raw+small jpeg. the files are 31 freaking mb!!!

That's what I shoot. I never shoot enough to fill a 4gb card very often. In fact, the only time I've ever filled a card was the one wedding I shot. Epic fail.

yeah, I've been shooting cars at the drag strip and had to switch to large jpeg so I didn't run out of room. I'm only getting 250 images out of an 8gb card at large raw +small jpeg.

Hm... it seems as though I got ~350 RAW+basic on the 4GB card.

you could just go the medium format route and skip digital all together. there are a couple hassleblad's for sale at my local shop for about 500 a piece. The developing isn't cheap, but you could learn to do it yourself and then you'd have a niche.

I have a buddy in Des Moines that does weddings with a MF. Very good work. I have an Olympus OM2n, very good 35mm camera and all the glass to go with it, but developing is my issue. I also have most everything to create my own color darkroom, but no space for it. Guess I could develop in the bathroom, though. I'm sure I'll upgrade to a 5DMK2 and make the switch to Canon in the future.

I am looking for a good editing software. I tried a photoshop trial but found it a bit confusing. Any suggestions?
