The reason Bruce Pearl will not get fired. ...

Oh he will my friend. Yes they are more than likely bored Vandy and Kentucky fans. There is no way a fan base can have this many enemies from within, no way. Another theory, it is Fulmer and or Bill King. The Bill King theory would really be no shocker. Could possibly be Kiffin and Orgy trying to devert the attention back our way.

The last fan who told Bruce Pearl to go home got punched in the nose by Vandys own mascot, so get in line Pearl haters. Lol. I hope Coach Pearl is here for a long time to come. GO VOLS!

Well Mr "GURU", By NegaVols I mean those who are excessively eager to get rid of the best basketball coach we have ever had and who also are devoid of forgiveness. Those of us who expect that no other man can be allowed to make a mistake.

When the mistakes destroy the program, or the coach runs the program into the ground (like Failmer), they have to go. End of story.

The truth is there are fans that love bruce and those that hate him..... but neither can honestly deny the new heights he has taken TN basketball. No Bruce isn't the end all , be all for TN basketball. We can and would survive without him. But Bruce wins... and because of that - he stays. I'm tired of all the haters saying that winning doesn't matter and that his actions are irreputable. We live in the bible belt, so I'll quote some scripture for you... John 8:7. " Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". We've all lied at many points in our own lives. We have covered things up, hidden the facts, hoped and prayed that noone found out what we had said or done. So cut the guy some slack. Forgive and move on.. and be thankful that for the first time since Ernie and Bernie, TN is no longer a nobody in college basketball.

UT basketball could get the death penalty, and some people here would still be advocating for his return afterwords.

Yeah... except it won't.

If Calhoun only got three games, Bruce has nothing to worry about.

This thread made me sad. We have officially become Alabama. We'll do whatever it takes to win, no matter what the cause or cost is.

That is where we disagree. Intelligent folks don't just jump in and start smart-mouthing.

Exactly. Intelligent ones generalize so they can make earth-shattering comments and look brilliant at every turn. Blankets make for unbelievable commentary. I'm serious, boards like this couldn't survive without knee jerk, but ingenious, commentary. You veil the insight well, but it's too obvious to truly hide. I admire the humility obvious in the effort, nonetheless.

Keep swinging, you'll eventually get something right. Might take a few days, but persistence doesn't seem to be one of your issues. Limited creativity and capacity to reason might prolong it a bit, but everyone eventually gets something correct, right?

Not the end of any story. Bruce stays.

And how did Fulmer get into this. Just generalization of hate?

Probably true at any major-conference school these days. College sports have just become so big and frantic that people root for them like pro teams these days. Nobody gives a shiat about anything other than wins and losses by their pro team, so why should they care any differently w/r/t their college team? Why does the university's integrity matter as long as they keep fielding teams we can root for?

Bingo! Sometimes even famous people get something right. I just hope to eventually be as certain of my solution to problems as you seem to be. I envy your certitude. I just do not see banishment as the solution to all problems. But those of you who live in special grace can justly condemn others. So you just keep calling for heads and I will keep calling for reason.

I hate to disappoint, but I haven't called for anyone's head. Reload.

Oh, that makes sense. I like how you say that the other coaches that have been charged with the exact offense Pearl has been charged with aren't comparable, but this situation where Calhoun wasn't charged with unethical conduct and the situation truly wasn't like Pearl's that it suddenly becomes comparable.

Hah!

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, desired by little statesmen, philosophers, and divines."

Aren't I free to choose analogies support my position and attack those which undermine it?

I said the facts in Pearl's case were different, not the charges. You disagree. We get it.

In Calhoun's case, the lack of an unethical conduct charge only underscores the irony that one who persists in a lie may end up better than one who tries to correct it.

I think we're kidding ourselves to think that if Pearl wasn't already caught, he would have continued lying.
