The Reason UT Can No Longer Sign Elite WRs

Guy writes a novel almost every post. Must think he has a lot of important stuff to say.

One logical option for you would be to not read a post that's too long for your eyes or comprehension. You could also avoid my threads. No tears will be shed here.

And what value do you bring to the topic again? None, I see. Was this post short enough for you?

You probably don't care but I want to make sure that I make it known. I am placing you on an ever growing list of posters that degrade my VN experience. You are longwinded and very condescending. Your posts all have a "holier than thou" feel to them and it is quite obvious that your opinion is the only one that makes any difference in your little world. I don't mind a dose of reality from time to time but your posts are mind numbingly negative. I have seen you post some good stuff in the past and don't know what is going on that has turned you so negative. However, I have a lot on my plate right now and don't want to spend the little time I do get on VN scrolling through your multiple doctoral theses in multiple threads. I hope this upcoming season renews some of your faith and joy in our football team. GBO Vol brother.

Good post, but would have been greatly improved by the addition of a trademarked quirky Glicht GIF. :)

:lolabove: So those kids that commit as 8th graders don't count as wins in their EVENTUAL class? Pick and choose pick and choose. The cutoff point for classes that apply to your silly lil rant conveniently seem to fall JUST outside your rant window. And plunker? If God couldn't make you witty, your silly exclamation point attempt sure as hell won't.

I've got no issue with you either, brother. I respect the positive vibes you almost always bring. I appreciate the GIFs you add to VN as well. You probably have brought as many laughs for me over the past year or two as any other poster on VN. I also respect your occasional expression of faith.

But I don't share my opinion to impress others or to try and add to my social network. I mainly express my opinion when I see a tidal wave of negativity towards someone or something that I happen to be in agreement with. It just so happens that the negativity on VN is generally expressed towards those on here who are deemed negative.

Jones has done great things for the program and I think 99% of fans are proud of what he's done. But there's certainly room for improvement in key areas. Expressing such views shouldn't result in a bombardment of animosity. I'll continue supporting the other side of the debate if I believe there is evidence to support it and I deem the en vogue mood of the board is too one sided away from logic and reason. Doesn't mean I am right. But it's my opinion and will continue to be my intention on VN.

I continue seeing those w a rival view depict me as "holier than thou". I believe I have principles which I will always stand up for. If that makes me such than I suppose it is as you and they say. I don't express my opinions on here (or in life) to appease people. That rubs some the wrong way. Very well then. Personally, I view my unwillingness to conform to popular opinion as the real reason multiple ppl try to dismiss me as "holier than thou". I certainly don't believe I'm better than anyone else and my opinion holds the same value, no less no more (it may be more informed than some, but of the same value).

All that said, I think you're a pretty civil and funny poster on here and I'm sure I'll continue enjoying your GIFs and light-heared musings. If you don't share enthusiasm with how I express myself on VN that is unfortunate but it will not change my approach.

For what its worth, if I were to see a tidal wave of negative sentiment against a coach on here that I thought was doing the right things, I would be in the "kool aid drinking sunshine pumper crowd". That's an unlikely scenario perhaps bc everyone rallies around the football coach until it's obvious there's no redeeming hope (e.g., dooley). It's what butchna referred to as the moment when everyone's proven right or wrong at the same time (insinuating that discussing it before that point is of no value, which is absurd).

The less I see opinions I view as reasonable getting bashed on VN, the less you'll see me. There's no reason for me to add to a fashionable opinion on here anyway. So if you want to see less of me, then help promote an environment of casual back-and-forth and fact-based logical deduction. As unlikely as the outcome is, it would be the only way to assure I never show, aside from being banned, which is also an increasing probability based on recent circumstance.

Business is rough. Takes a while to get it off the ground and what normally takes a research team of a handful or more I am attempting with one. I have indeed wasted way too much time with this the last couple days, you're right. :hi:

I don't think I've reacted strongly to most posters who disagree with my points, aside from a certain poster, who has especially earned my disdain through tireless months of bashing opinions that don't share his perpetual enthusiasm for butchie boy. But you're right and I'll tone it down. I need to refocus on work anyway.

Besides, I have a minority opinion to support and promote on the economy and stock market anyway. It's too long to post here so I'll spare you. :)

Edited just for you. I went with this particular gif because I felt it was light hearted but demonstrated how tiring it has been to wade through the negativity brought by many posters on here the last several months and especially days. Here's to a great season that brings out the posiVol in all of us. :toast:

Here let me sum it up nice and short. I don't jump in here pissin' and moanin' with 100,000 word essays about all the mistakes the coaching staff makes. I spent a whole lot less time adding nothing than you did. See how that works?

Holding people accountable is often the only way to see improvement in results, unless someone has above average introspection. Given that CBJ has continued making several of the same mistakes over the last 3 seasons when gaining a lead, often times against a foe with similar talent but not exclusively (USA '13, Vandy '13, UF '14, Vandy '14, OU '15, UF '15, Ark '15, USCe '15, Mizzu '15), it would be good for the fans, at a minimum, to hold him accountable for his deficiencies in the second half and in coaching with a lead. I believe he is probably one of the better coaches in college football currently when it comes to game preparation. UT during his era has often looked exceptional in the first half. With a lead in the second half they've consistently looked ineffective if facing a quality opponent. I don't think this is a coincide.

I would think that Vol fans would want the team to produce to their greatest potential. If so, why would we not want this addressed? Any casual outside observer would recognize this. I know it's no great revelation.

FTR, I think CBJ will attempt to better utilize the team's WRs now. There's too much of a spotlight and negativity around it now (recruiting at a minimum, but in-game results as well) to not address it. Is it because of me? No. But fans being more aware of defeciencies will add pressure to correct inadequacies. I also think he's more apt to be more aggressive with a lead now too. We'll see if this proves to be wishful thinking but I expect a much better 2016 and that will require a more balanced approach to the offense and a more aggressive mindset with a lead. If so, higher expectations from fans probably deserves some of the credit.

I'll also add that while this thread may not have any value to you, it was one of the first to really shine a light on just how little UT's WRs were used last season. In less than two days I've seen it stated on VN, in a BR article, and even hinted by the paysites as a source of trouble recently in recruiting the WR position. I saw no wide acknowledgment of it beforehand, although I bet it was used by rival recruiters and rival coaches during game strategy long before I thought to address it. So while the view that we are not properly utilizing the WR position may be accepted as obvious now, it was not laid bare with statistical evidence in a public forum until I posted it (that I'm aware of). Perhaps you don't approve of my takeaways but trying now to create an impression that I've added nothing to the table but pissing and moaning is disingenuous. I don't need a pat on the back but I'm certainly not aimlessly spitting in the air here. My posts are indeed long but, last I checked, this is not required reading. I also would have even more back-and-forth explaining of my unwelcome opinion if I did not fully explain it my first attempt.

I sure hope that CBJ does NOT base his coaching decision on what some on volnation think. He needs to base his decisions on the personnel on the team and what will win games against his opponent - and if that is to run the ball every down, then he should run the ball every down.

You are kidding yourself if you think any of this discussion has a bearing on how CBJ utilizes his players to win games.

OMG...you're full of yourself! You SERIOUSLY think you're the first on here to state that Butch doesn't utilize the WRs properly? And your hard biting analysis was the leading receiver of each game last year? Oh...and the receivers we offered and eventually signed last year? You didn't break any new ground...just sogged it up with way too many words. :thud:

He doesn't get it.

I think it's safe to say we lost games last year because we did not pick up first down to put the games away. We have an awesome backfield with a great running game but that didn't seem to win us the games in the second half with leads now did it. The point is our coaches had zero confidence in our passing game and it showed to the point were our opponents had no respect for it and now recruits are hearing about it.
