The Red Line: Part Deux

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has approved authorization for military force in a vote of 10-7. The authorization will now move to the Senate for debate and vote.

Can we send these nations the bill for Iraq? Can they also pay the VA budget since 2003 as well?

Should we ask for payment in gold? Then tamper with the market to drive up value? Or maybe oil?

So we have a lot of hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle. At this point I'll live with all the hypocrisy in the world if it avoids a dumb decision and what the administration is pushing for sure looks like a dumb decision to me.

Ed Malarky who recently took over Kerrys senate seat, couldnt find Kerry compelling enough and voted present. You just cant make this up

Rand Paul:
I will not vote to send young men and women to sacrifice life and limb for stalemate. I will not vote to send our nation’s best and brightest to fight for anything less than victory. If American interests are at stake, then our goal should not be stalemate.
Bashar Assad is clearly not an American ally. But does his ouster encourage stability in the Middle East, or would his ouster actually encourage instability?
Are the Islamic rebels our allies? Will they defend American interests? Will they acknowledge Israel’s right to exist? Will they impose Shari‘a? Will they tolerate Christians, or will they pillage and destroy ancient Christian churches and people?

John Kerry Steals Wolfowitz’s Iraq Lines for Syria War –

Secretary of State John Kerry at the House Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing on Syria war authorization Today:
“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs…the answer is profoundly yes. They have. That offer is on the table.”
Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, March 23, 2003 on the eve of the Iraq war, before the House Appropriations Committee:
”The oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years. Now, there are a lot of claims on that money, but … We are dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction and relatively soon.”
Wolfowitz’s “free” war ended up costing the US taxpayer more than one trillion dollars. How much will Obama and Kerry and Rice and Power’s “free” war cost us?

I knew it.

He started off objecting in principle based on isolationist libertarian theory. But that isn't going to work with 2016. So he has made it about crap like Sharia law. Pathetic.

seems like a legit question since we're backing groups that are brutally murdering anyone in their path. Does that advance American interests? Should be an easy case to make for any President willing to put lives on the line for his agenda

Rapists, child-killers and priest killers ..Leave it to Kerry to say those savages are moderates.

Bet they were the ones that used the chemical attack!
New one on liveleak showing the FSA decapitating two guys with a bowie knife..Definitely moderates like Frankenstein, I mean Kerry said.

Yeah, we know there are a bunch of bad guys mixed in the rebels. The question is whether it was or is inevitable that they come to dominate the resistance.

Not a very reassuring analysis of the moderates

Kerry portrait of Syria rebels at odds with intelligence reports

In an August 19 letter to Representative Eliot Engel, obtained by Reuters, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, warned: "Syria is not about choosing between two sides but rather about choosing one among many sides.

"It is my belief that the side we choose must be ready to promote their interests and ours when the balance shifts in their favor," Dempsey wrote. "Today they are not."

Anyone else getting tired of people invoking "the children" as rationale for action?

Wonder how many 100s of innocent children we've killed via drone strikes? Don't those children count?

I am tired of the USA acting like we are the world police force.
